A trip to Uzbekistan cannot take place without visiting a few obligatory points. Contrary to appearances, these are amazing tourist attractions. One of such points on the map of Uzbekistan is the city of Khiva.

Legend has it that the founder of the city of Khiva is one of Noah's sons - a certain Shem. He survived the legendary flood and woke up in the desert, assuming a city called Chiwa under the influence of dreams.

Legenda głosi, że założycielem miasta Khiva jest jeden z synów Noego - niejaki Sema. Przeżył legendarny potop i obudził się na pustyni zakładając pod wpływem wizji sennych miasto o nazwie Chiwa.

It is a space where blue and emerald meet the colors of the desert squeaks. A city full of minarets decorated with mosaics and hand-painted ornaments. It is a city full of charming streets and omnipresent domes.

To przestrzeń, gdzie spotyka się błękit i szmaragd z kolorami pisków pustyni. Miasto pełne minaretów udekorowanych mozaikami, ręcznie malowanymi zdobieniami. To miasto pełny urokliwych uliczek i wszechobecnych kopuł.

Khiva is a well-preserved old town that has avoided any modern reconstruction. The city is inscribed on the UNESCO list of monuments and is a kind of open-air museum.

Khiva to świetnie zachowane stare miasto, które uniknęło nowoczesnej przebudowy. Miasto wpisane jest na listę zabytków UNESCO i jest swoistym muzeum pod gołym niebem.

The very center, called Ichan Kala, is full of carefully restored monuments dating back to the 9th century.

Ścisłe centrum, które nazywa się Ichan Kala pełne jest pieczołowicie odnowionych zabytków pamiętających jeszcze IX wiek.

Beautifully decorated vaults and carved brackets supporting these ceilings make a great impression.

Pięknie zdobione sklepienia i rzeźbione wsporniki podtrzymujące te stropy robią ogromne wrażenie.

The hallmark is a gigantic barrel, or in fact a tower. Ultimately, it was supposed to be a minaret which, however, was not completed. This process was interrupted by the death of Builder Khan. Currently, the facility is well cared for and maintained by UNESCO. At night, the tower is beautifully illuminated.

Znakiem rozpoznawczym jest jakby gigantyczna beczka, a w zasadzie wieża. Docelowo miał być to minaret którego jednak nie dokończono. Proces ten przerwała śmierć Budowniczego Khana. Obecnie obiekt jest pod dobrą opieką i konserwacją Unesco. W nocy wieża jest pięknie podświetlona.

The minaret was commissioned in 1851 by Mohammed Amin Khan, ruler of Chiwa, and as an architectural wonder, it was to rise over 70 meters - supposedly high enough to see Bukhara in the distance.

The old city of Khiva, like most cities located in hot climates, comes to life only in the evening. During the day, temperatures can rise up to plus 50 degrees in the shade, then everyone seeks shelter from the heat pouring from the sky.

Stare miasto Khiva, jak większość miast położonych w gorącym klimacie ożywa dopiero wieczorem. W ciągu dnia temperatury mogą wzrosnąć nawet do plus 50 stopni w cieniu, wtedy każdy szuka schronienia przed żarem lejącym się z nieba.

At that time, whole families with amused children appear on the streets of the city. But Khiva's real life takes place outside the walls of the historic city. This is where the characteristic buildings appear, full of small clay houses and streets winding like a maze.

Na ulicach miasta pojawiają się wówczas całe rodziny z rozbawionymi dziećmi. Ale prawdziwe życie Khivy odbywa poza murami zabytkowego miasta. To tam pojawia się charakterystyczna zabudowa pełna małych glinianych domków i krętych niczym labirynt uliczek.

This is Dichan Kala. The real life of the locals takes place here. Some people pray, others stay at the night bazaar. Mosques are no longer as impressive as in the heart of the city, but life is colorful and much more interesting.

To Dichan Kala. Tu ma miejsce prawdziwe życie miejscowych. Jedni się modlą, inni urzędują na nocnym bazarze. Meczety tak już nie są tak imponujące jak w sercu miasta, ale życie jest barwne i znacznie ciekawsze.
