Hello, I'm Byron from Canada and I draw pumpkins. But not just any old pumpkin. My pumpkins are often weird and slightly evil. Sometimes there are skulls, cats or zombies. Sometimes the pumpkin is the zombie.

Now that October is upon us I wanted to create a new type of pumpkin that uses the NFTHive PFP machine. So I drew up some simple pumpkins and painted them to look like pumpkins.

Next up was making the eyes and mouths. I didn't want to go all zombie on this project, but make it a little bit more like an actual carved pumpkin.

Lots of eyes that had to be photographed and then cut out to be their own image. I thought of mix matching eyes on the PFP but decided to keep it as simple as possible. There were 21 different sets of eyes in total.

This is what 1 set of eyes look like for the PFP. It's a transparent PNG and everything that is white is actually transparent and will allow the pumpkin to show underneath. There were 13 mouths that needed to be photographed and then edited to be used in the final product.

These graphics get edited down to be just the black and everything else is transparent.

In case you were wondering, the edited pumpkins look like this. Same basic idea as the mouth and eyes. I use photoshop to remove the background, give it a nice border and a drop shadow. The mouth and eyes go on top. This pumpkin got a rainbow hue added to it, and I made it more rare to get in the PFP machine.

After all the image editing was complete I started to add it to the PFP machine on NFTHive. For a background I used mostly solid colours.
The reason for the background is twofold. The first is to give the pumpkin something to sit on instead of whatever the browser defaults backgrounds to. The second reason is to add more possible variations. The PFP machine can make a lot of variations if you give it enough variables to use.
So for this PFP there are 13 backgrounds, 6 pumpkins, 13 mouths and 21 sets of eyes. Doing the math . . . 13x6x13x21=21294. So with this I could potentially create 21294 different Jack O Lanterns.
Go mint one here: https://nfthive.io/drop/nfthivedrops/6152

The PFP machine itself is pretty straight forward. Create layers, add the parts, and call it done. Maybe not quite that easy but the more you do it the easier it gets. So now that the PFP is made and people are minting their Jack O Lanterns . . . what next?
Well the options are only as limited as your imagination. You could leave it alone and just watch the WAX flow into your wallet as people mint the fun PFP you created.
OR . . . you could think a little further. Why not use this PFP as a pack? It will help reduce supply and give people something a little more weird and fun. For example . . . I got carried away with pumpkins and drew up some Evil Pumpkins shortly after I launched the Jack O Lantern PFP.

So now the Jack O Lantern PFP becomes a secret pack that no one knows about. When they go to Neftyblocks they can smash that Jack O Lantern open and find 2 of 6 different evil pumpkins inside. https://neftyblocks.com/c/byronartset1/packs
If you can manage to collect all 6 of those Evil Pumpkins you can then go back to NFTHive and craft them into the Pumpkin Patch of Evil!
There are only 13 of these available. https://nfthive.io/craft/856
This is just one idea of taking the PFPs a little bit further and giving NFTs a bit more use than just a pretty picture. They become ingredients for more pretty pictures.
That's it. I'm outta steam for writing and I don't really know what else to say. Got questions? Ask me in the comments. Want to see more?

I am also open for commissions and I have a MASSIVE Zombie Portrait Project that will be the best thing you will ever join.
$100 gets you a hand painted zombie portrait as well as a tonne more. Check it out here.
