Happy New Year's post!

By Zatrig | Zatrig | 31 Dec 2020

And now a new year’s post!

Not because I feel obliged (also the party or the drinking is not obligatory, there is no amount or volume recommended to ’party enough’), but because one of this year’s lesson was that people live for hope. That’s why a lot of people hated this year – waiting and hope went on loop, and we like to see things’ end. We like to see something. Anything. But also, we are resilient.
Resilience is our biggest weapon. That’s rude to call someone to account for it (why aren’t you more resilient, get up and do it!), but everyone has to maintain their own for good. Resilience, and then solidarity – because as you have your tank filled and a massive core, then you can give too.
The saying ’our ancestors did not have time for this’ – but now we have more collective stories and background studies behind us, so today is just not the same as it was in those ’good old days’. We have to have the time for ’this’ – our soul, questions, anything that we did not ’grow out' with adulthood as we expected.

I have my own superstitions so that I won’t call those out, who are calling the entire 2020 names and declaring that they hate it and happy to leave it ’behind'.
So seeing the notion of leaving 2020 back and scratching some cat litter on it: I understand the hatred – even though I find it a little infantile coping technique – but we cannot leave it behind, as there is no ’behind’.
These bad experiences are a part of us, too.
We don’t have to continue where we stopped, that’s the point of this ’new year’ thingy, along with resolutions and other tools of development (or redrawing the truth, in case of misconception). I, personally, don’t write my ’resolutions’ down. I don’t even have more resolutions than anytime else when I want to take a step forward. Last year I made a ’YearCompass’ and now I have something like for this year too, that’s enough of organized, prefab resolution-making and summarizing.

Wrapping all this up, I wish a happy new year for everyone (also for those who celebrate it on 01. 13.:)(...or on any other date different from this.)
