Effective Wednesday April 8th, 2020, Paris will be banning outdoor exercise between 10:00 and 19:00 local time in an attempt to reduce Covid-19 Coronavirus transmission. Mayor Anne Hidalgo and other authorities say that this would restrict citizens to exercise only when "streets are generally at their quietest". Paris' deputy mayor Emmanuel Gregoire stated that the ban does not apply to dog walkers, and the intention of the ban is to reduce overcrowding.
As of now, France has been under strict lockdown measure for almost a month. Anyone going outside must carry a document stating the reasons for leaving home including visiting medical practitioners, shopping for necessities like food and hygienic products, and exercise within 1 kilometre (0.6 miles) of their home. France is one of the hardest hit nations in the Covid-19 pandemic, with nearly 75,000 reported cases and 8,911 confirmed deaths.
