At about 16:30 local time, two small aircraft collided mid-air before crashing in the town of Loches southeast of Tours, France, resulting in the deaths of all 5 people involved. According to local emergency and rescue teams, the small aircraft was a microlight aircraft carrying two people while the larger aircraft was a Diamond DA40 aircraft carrying 3 tourists. The microlight aircraft landed on a fence around a house, and burst into flames after hitting the house's electricity meter while the DA40 crashed about 100 meters (328 feet) away in an uninhabited area.

No one on the ground was harmed in the crash, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The identities of the victims has not yet been released by local police authorities. One witnesses reported to local media outlets that she spotted a person falling out of the larger aircraft as it was falling.
