It was Christmas Eve in the quiet mountain town of Pine Hollow, where snow fell thick and fast, blanketing the streets in pristine white. The colorful Christmas lights on the houses glowed softly through the haze, casting a magical hue across the landscape. Children laughed and played, building snowmen under the soft glow of streetlights.
Amelia, a young woman new to the town, was spending her first Christmas alone in her small cabin at the edge of the woods. She loved the snow and the festive lights, but there was something eerie about the solitude of the forest at night. Still, she tried to enjoy the evening, sipping hot cocoa by her window and watching the snow fall.
As midnight approached, she noticed a strange figure in her yard—a tall snowman, its head tilted unnaturally to the side. She hadn’t built it, and it hadn’t been there earlier. Curious but unnerved, Amelia opened the door to get a closer look.
The snowman was unlike any she’d ever seen. Its "face" was carved crudely into the snow, with dark hollows where eyes should have been. A scarf fluttered loosely around its neck, though no wind stirred the air. Shrugging it off as a neighbor’s prank, she went back inside and locked the door.

But the unease grew. As she sat by the fire, Amelia heard a faint crunching noise, like footsteps in the snow. She peeked out the window, but the snowman was gone. The yard was empty, yet the tracks leading away from where it had stood ended abruptly—vanishing into the forest.
The lights in her cabin flickered, and the room grew cold despite the fire roaring in the hearth. Amelia’s breath fogged the air as a faint knock sounded at the door. Heart pounding, she slowly approached, peering through the peephole. No one was there.
Gathering her courage, she opened the door. The snowman stood inches away, its hollow eyes now glowing faintly red. A chill swept through her as a whisper filled the air: “Why did you leave me out in the cold?”
Amelia screamed and slammed the door, locking it and bolting the windows. The lights outside began to flicker, casting twisted shadows across the snow. The sound of crunching footsteps circled the cabin, faster and faster, until it stopped suddenly.
The next morning, the townsfolk found Amelia’s cabin untouched, save for one thing: a perfect snowman standing in her yard. Its hollow eyes stared blankly at the door, and a scarf hung loosely from its neck. Amelia, however, was gone—her footsteps leading into the woods and disappearing into the snow.
To this day, locals claim to hear faint footsteps and see a lone snowman appearing in random yards during Christmas Eve, its head tilted as if watching, waiting.
