Krita Meets Bob Ross, parts 1-3 - Krita Art - Viking Visual

I started looking for good tutorials for helping me get a real good hang of Krita - and working towards doing some good Bob Ross style painting with my new graphics tablet.

Some tutorials are really nice. Others zip so fast that you cannot keep up. Here is the best I've found thus far.

Start at the beginning and watch all the way through - every video has new information that will literally transform your ability to create excellent art with Krita - even if you don't yet have a graphics tablet.

The first program introduces you to Bob Ross if you've never had the privilege of watching and listening to that gentle soul.

Your own Bob Ross palette to paint from!

The second takes you through the incredibly important (and surprisingly simple) task of creating a custom palette. In this case, it's your very own Bob Ross palette which will help you as you go through this set of tutorials - using the colors that the artist used all the time in his television series.

Here is my completed palette.

Yes, you will have to use the pause button frequently, but it doesn't feel like a chore or challenge in this set of tutorials.

New brushes!

The first task in the third tutorial is to learn how to download and add new brushes to Krita. It's very simple, and the tutorial takes you step-by-step through the whole process. The only confusion comes a little later - in that some of the brushes have changed names between the tutorial and current downloaded brushes.

Happy Little Clouds

So, we finally get to painting!
Some of Bob Ross's "happy little clouds" is our next task. The most important thing to know is how to find the brushes he's using in the tutorial - which have been renamed.
The "sponge stamp" brush is now called: "deevad 6p stamp texture big."
The blending tool is now called: "deevad 3e blending"
Now, we're back on track.

I did one version of this as I was watching the tutorial - then I did a second... Just shows how much a little practice helps.

Already a significant improvement, I think!
