Doctor's office television torture
Doctor's office television torture

Today I am sitting in a doctor's office waiting room. The wife has an appointment and since we only have one working vehicle, I've taken the day off to go with her.

We don't watch any television at home. Well I guess we do but none of the shows are less than 20 years old.

A couple of weeks ago we finished watch Babylon 5 for the first time. Before that it was Space 1999. Now we're watching Stargate SG-1. From this I figure that you can determine the type of shows we prefer.

While sitting here, I am exposed to the incredibly brain numbing programming of day time TV. Some show on Fox featuring an apparently self important woman is fighting for control of my attention.

Thankfully I have a pair of earrings buds. Satriani, Bread, and several other bands are helping to cover the drivel that is pouring forth from the indoctrination portal on the wall. I kind of feel bad for the other people in the room that are having to endure this dross. There is, however, at least one person totally engrossed in the vitriol.

Why do people watch this stuff? What redeeming qualities does it have?

As for the wife and me, we'll continue not watching.
