Central world Banks are preparing the field to issue their Blockchain based CBDCs (Central Bank Digital Currency) and constantly on the news channels in the major world nations are studying or researching the benefits to issue a digital coin.
That couldn't be different for the Bank of Canada, that issued a contingency plans to prepare possible scenarios that will lead to the launch of their own digital coin. To note that the central Canadian bank isn't planning to launch an immediate digital dollar at the moment but wants to build a Ecosystem that could sustain a issuance of a future CBDC.
In this research taken by the central bank they identified two possible scenarios that could lead the issuance of digital coin:
- If the of the paper money is reduced or eliminated.
- When the private Cryptocurrency start to make serious inroads.
Those two scenarios are part of the contingency plan created by the central Canadian Bank as a part of the issuance of their CBDC and it would be the support from the public as a matter of Interest and with no commercial purposes and as a plan to a major challenge also as an exigency of the future of money.
As noted in the article above the Central Bank of Canada doesn't have for now an immediate interest to issue their digital currency but will lead an consultation to governments in provinces and territories across Canada to learn and understand if they want a digital currency and how they want it, but the issuance of a digital coin could take several years to happen.
Weeks ago Central Banks formed a working group that will lead to a research on the benefits to have a CBDC.
The world is going Blockchain and the Banks are making alliance to survive this new approach of technology and learning more about it will make them secure a market with services that could take to fast Payments, cheap methods of payment, very effective and transparent.
