It is often that we realize the significance of certain things after they cease to exist. Every morning, we expect to go through an ordinary day. We are equipped with all of the necessary means to survive we have enough food to eat, a roof over our heads, people we can communicate with, and the capability of doing routine things automatically because of their everyday existence.
Take a thought about such an insignificant thing like getting a question “Did you eat?”. Even though it seems to be trivial, it is quite possible that it will come from someone who really cares about you. Same concerns your health, family, friends, peace and leisure.
Most mornings we are not waking up with feelings of gratitude towards the mentioned above. In most cases, we are preoccupied with thoughts about what we still need. We are thinking of the next goal, the next acquisition, the next accomplishment.
While being occupied with these thoughts, we can overlook the thing that adds meaning to our lives right now.
The funny thing about it all is that we often learn what something is worth when it gets lost. We only know how much a place means to us once we are gone from there. We start valuing our conversations once we find out that we are never going to have it again. Our common days suddenly become unforgettable memories.
Of course, it does not mean that we need to live in constant fear of losing things. It just means that we can focus a bit more on it while we have it.
Perhaps valuing life is not always something spectacular. Maybe it is about spending a day with our family, having a chat with our friend, relaxing at home or even being grateful for another day of peace.
We spend too much time waiting for our lives to become better, larger or more interesting. Sometimes, however, we fail to notice that our lives are here now and it is worth living them right away.
Things which seem ordinary now may become our cherished memories someday.
