I remember way back when. When I was first getting interested in cryptocurrency I heard a lot about how SBF and FTX were the cat's you know what.

Now, we all know how that turned out.  After the fall of FTX and the conviction of SBF, FTX was reported to have had plans to relaunch. I wrote this article about it on June 29th, 2023 https://www.publish0x.com/twodogscaged/ftx-to-relaunch-xkpmyky at the end of that article, I wrote:

"I for one would never invest in it again, not to say that it can't be successful, and not to say that it won't be legitimate. I just would not want that stigma in a company I put my hard earned money into." It looks like my judgment at that time was spot on.

Apparently, I am not the only one who would not want to invest in FTX again. I read this article today: https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2024/01/31/ftx-expects-to-fully-repay-customers-but-wont-restart-defunct-crypto-exchange/ The article outlines how there are positives, that investors will be repaid in full but will not relaunch due to a reported "lack of buyers."

This is of little surprise to me, though I thought they would get it off the ground at some point. I wonder if there will be a time when the FTX brand tries to rise from the ashes once again. I for one will stay away from it if that happens.

On another long running theme I have written about, to me this is more good news in the broad view of cryptocurrency and rebuilding or building public trust. To not have the FTX brand out there is a good thing in the long run. It may not have mattered to those closely involved in cryptocurrency, but to the average consumer having that brand out there would erode or provide skepticism about whether or not you could trust cryptocurrency.
