I came across this article: https://seekingalpha.com/news/4055659-jpmorgan-ceo-dont-get-involved-in-bitcoin where the CEO of JP Morgan was reported to have advised people to not to invest in Bitcoin. The implication was that Bitcoin was useless, and was described as a pet rock.

The article talked about how there are two types of cryptocurrency. One type of cryptocurrency is fundamentally useful, it can be used for something tangible in the real world. The other type of cryptocurrency was described as a "pet rock" and was only good for "fraud, money-laundering, tax avoidance, and sex trafficking." The quote came from the article pasted above.

Now, as I have been learning about cryptocurrency, I asked myself similar questions about Bitcoin in the past.  What is it good for" I have read it is a "store of value" and that it does a lot of things. However, there is not much that it does compared to cryptocurrencies like XRP or ADA.  I do think Shiba Inu and Dogecoin are fundamentally useless. However, I would not go as far as the article suggests that it (Bitcoin) is useless. I just don't understand what the point of Bitcoin is, but I believe in it nonetheless. Please save your "Bitcoin rage" when reading the article. I am not against it. I am for challenging my thinking when it comes to all things, cryptocurrency included. I think the CEO of JP Morgan is wrong in this case, but I am just a crypto enthusiast, not a financial genius.

The article suggests the government will have to delete all Bitcoin once all 20 million are created. I don't think that is going to happen.  

I do believe the fundamental point of the article, that there are two types of cryptocurrency. I think there has been a lot of fraud in the industry, and understand why there is so much uncertainty involved with cryptocurrency. However, to outright dismiss all of them as useless as "a pet rock" misses the point. I am hoping that most, if not all of the cryptocurrency I have invested in does not go to zero, I am sure some of them will unfortunately. I am diversified enough to hope and maybe believe I will come out ahead in the long run.
