For as long as I can remember, I have always been a great lover of technology and all the good things it has brought to humanity, with its facilitations and progress. As someone who has been through different eras, if I may say so, I remember how everything was, before the time of high-speed internet, smartphones, artificial intelligence and other things.
It is worth mentioning that I work as a programmer, I have had a computer or notebook in my life for over 10 years, so I am always connected and on top of everything in this area, so much so that I also arrived and discovered #Hive, like an incessant search to learn more about the news that exists on this network called the internet, which is practically infinite in terms of information.
With this post, I would like to highlight some points about how technology and everything it encompasses has helped and also ruined humanity a lot during this period of transitions that we have been through so much.
Positive side
I believe that with the passage of time and the evolution of civilization, the search for information correctly and quickly has become essential. If before we had to search for everything on various pages and papers and travel to countless places searching for knowledge, today we have the ease of being able to absorb everything within our own homes, whether via computer or cell phone.
In this case, I am very grateful to all these inventions and news that have come to us, because in this way, in the search for more information in less time, I believe that we can all approve of how things were done. Far beyond just having access, digital inclusion also came to disseminate all this information to as many people as possible.
Remote places where information practically did not reach, with the advances we have made over the years, can now enjoy all the facilities that technology has to offer, making a better quality of life and connectivity a reality.
Another point I like to comment on is how communication was made easier and this helps everyone a lot and we here at #Hive are just one of the many examples I could share. Here we have people from all parts of the globe and although English and Spanish are mostly present, there are several other languages that are communicated here as well, such as, for example, Brazilian Portuguese (PT-BR) which both I love and share for the #Hive ecosystem.
Whether through videos, audio or text, communication applications helped reduce uncomfortable distances and made what was far away closer. How many friendships were created? How much knowledge was passed on? Have you ever stopped to think about it? Thanks to technology and everything it has brought us, we can have virtual friendships, but they certainly become more real than any others we could have close to us.
Negative side
Of course, not everything is rosy and some negative points also came with technology. An example that I can describe and that I constantly see is disrespect and lack of understanding on social networks, something that wasn't like that in the beginning, people respected each other more and had greater patience with different opinions.
Since recent years, the internet has become a lawless land, where everyone says what they think and it becomes the truth, so woe betide anyone who says the opposite or questions the veracity of such information. This has reached such extreme points that I often see the end of years of friendships, all because of different opinions expressed on social media.
So it's upsetting to me to see something that's supposed to bring people together actually pulling them apart, it hurts. Because this technology came to bring us closer, even if physically difficult, it gave us an opportunity to be close and connected with the people we love.
With the advancement of technology and the arrival of super modern cell phones, I also see a distancing of family members within their own home. This is an example that I experience practically every day, of how a cell phone can alienate family members.
As much as it came to make things easier, people who live under the same roof often seem to be on another planet, taking them away from their coexistence. It seems like a great irony, but I believe that many have heard the saying “bring those who are far away and push those who are close away” and that is sad for me, because I don't see anything more important than our family.
Finally, technology has countless positive and negative points, many help people to produce more in less time, facilitate and improve their quality of life, however, we also have bad moments, where clueless people use it to cause more problems than solutions.
It really depends on each person how to use and how to react to the news that is coming at all times, therefore, we must act wisely with them. We always have the best reasons to be grateful and evolve, but we must be careful to use the facilities, with respect and politeness so that they do not become our own undoing.
