I put myself in "remote self-work" for 2 days!

Something very different from normal happened to me this week. It was the first time I gave myself days of remote work on my own and the experience was really cool (at least for me) and for my boss I don't think so, I can say. But what happened? Well, on Monday I had a very complicated, stressful day and after spending the day at work and producing practically nothing, I can say that I “freaked out” and so, on Tuesday and Wednesday, I just decided to work from home, without telling anyone. That was my little crazy moment of the week.

Honestly, we give a lot of ourselves to a company, an employment contract and in the end they don’t even respect us. I’m going on 14 years at the same company, with a bad salary, bad processes, a mess. The only saving grace is the possibility of flexibility, even if my boss doesn’t like it, he still requires me to be in person, but everything I do here I could do at home, but no, if the employee is away from work, obviously he’s not working, I think that’s how he thinks. Anyway, after a complicated Monday and when they made me look like a fool, I decided on my own to stay home for 2 days.

But, as I said, I didn't take a day off, I really worked, I insisted on it and, damn, I worked a thousand times better, more focused, more productive, happier. Thank goodness we have tools that record the date and time I'm using the system or sending calls, so I can prove that I worked both days. Doing this made me reflect, feel lighter, and breathe a little outside of the toxic environment. I was able to see my daughter come home from school, hug me tightly, eat my wife's lunch, it was all so good that it made me feel more relieved.

Today I'm back at the company, tomorrow I'll also be working in person, I'm calm about it, I know what I did was very risky, they could fire me, but I needed to do this, do something crazy, rebel, try something new and different. If they didn't like it? Fuck it, that's the word, my mental health and my happiness are more important than any job, than killing myself because of a bad job. Anyway, back to reality, but I think I'll do this more often, which I called putting myself in “remote self-work”. I loved doing it and I already want to do it again!
