[EN] Missing the old days (nostalgia).

What would you like to bring back? Life or existence? A person, a thing, a style, an emotion, what? Ahhh, for me it would definitely be the 90s and a little bit, early 2000s, something in between these years. It was a good time, kids in the streets, soccer on the fields, sitting on the sidewalk and talking until late at night, waiting for the weekend to get on the phone to access the internet, using MSN, playing CS 1.6 (non-steam) and most importantly: playing Gunbound! What a good time!

Okay, I may not be so precise with the dates, but back then everything seemed easier, that's what I feel, the old days, when we could be who we wanted, we could talk, joke around, jokes weren't crimes, having fun made everyone laugh, people weren't so fussy, so sick in the head and weak in the mind, it was a time of strong people, who knew how to differentiate things. They respected children, no sex changes for minors, no hate or cancel culture, none of that nonsense from people who can't stand people who think differently from them.

Maybe you see here a Yan Patrick who defends things that existed in the past and I miss that, I miss when friends would joke about my weight or if I “got dumped” by a girl or about another friend who was ugly, in the end, everything was laughter, they were light or heavy jokes, it didn’t matter, everyone just laughed, everyone knew how to differentiate the true offenses from the acid humor and that was it, a good night, sleep with God and tomorrow the friendship would be the same, just like that, everyone ready for more fun and laughter. Today, you say “good morning” to a woman, she already thinks you want to “take her to bed”, that’s illogical.

Respect is good and it fits everywhere, I believe in that. We do need respect, but nowadays it seems that the phrase that says: “idiots will dominate the world, not because they are smart, but because there are so many of them”, seems to be how it is working. No one is obliged to like anyone, no one is obliged to defend a sexual, political or anything like that, but we are obliged to respect. And nowadays respect is no longer earned, it is forced upon you. People have forgotten how beautiful it is to fight to earn the respect of others, to change by example.

The old days were like that for me, I may be saying a lot of things here that no one will understand, but I know that many Brazilians have this feeling that in the past, we were more united, happier, more loving. After all, what politics and the system did was divide each one of us and with a divided population, with each person representing an agenda, an advantage over the other, all that happens is the destruction of ties and the respect that one has for the other. We don't need division, we need a future, policies that aim at our freedom, unity and prosperity.

That's all I feel, nostalgia for the old days, longing for school, college, laughter, everything was so peaceful, so calm, not in terms of violence or anything like that, but there in my little world, on my street, in my neighborhood, people seemed to love each other more, help each other more, that's what I feel. Before, everything was more real, less internet, more flesh and blood, no artificial intelligence, just us, thinking minds, who came together to solve problems, who accepted that life wasn't perfect and respect was earned with a lot of sweat and good examples.

I really miss the old days...
