The emerald or turquoise color of the lake water is caused by the deposition of the so-called limestone tuff on its bottom. It is a kind of snow-white limestone rock whose scientific name is Travertine. This substance finds its way to the bottom of the lake by washing calcium carbonates from the rock crevices and causes the lakes to have an emerald or turquoise color under good lighting.

There are also caves in the Park. The largest are Supliara, 70 meters long, and Golubinjaca, 160 meters long.

Na terenie Parku znajdują się również jaskinie. Największe z nich to Supliara o długości 70 metrów i Golubinjaca o długości 160 metrów.

The picturesque lakes are actually 16 cascading lakes connected by a series of beautiful waterfalls hidden in a dense forest rich in wild animals such as bears, deer, wolves, wild boars and countless rare species of birds. The complex consists of 11 upper and 5 lower lakes.

Malownicze położone jeziora to tak na prawdę 16 jezior kaskadowych połączonych szeregiem pięknych wodospadów poukrywanych w gęstym lesie obfitującym w dziką zwierzynę typu niedźwiedzie, jelenie, wilki, dziki oraz niezliczoną ilość rzadkich gatunków ptaków. Kompleks składa się z 11 górnych i 5 dolnych jezior.

The lakes are divided into two groups: Upper and Lower Plitvice Lakes, connected by a cascade, and it is an area of almost 300 square kilometers, and the lakes themselves are an interconnected system of almost 8 kilometers. The largest lake in this complex is Lake Kozjak, which has an area of almost 80 hectares and is 49 m deep.

Apart from the lakes, this place has many elevations and walking in this region on hot days is not the easiest. The highest point is 1280 m above sea level, and the lowest 380 m.

This place is sprinkled with numerous waterfalls. Although the biggest difference in elevation is only 135 m, one of the waterfalls, the largest in the Plitvice National Park, the beautiful Veliki Slap waterfall is 70 m high.

Miejsce to okraszone jest licznymi wodospadami. Choć największa różnica wzniesień na tylko 135 m, to jeden z wodospadów, największy w Parku Narodowym Plitvice, przepiękny wodospad Veliki Slap ma aż 70 m wysokości.

But the most captivating among these lakes is the color of the water and its clarity. The emerald color of the lakes literally knocks you off your feet, and there are dozens of its shades. When we add an amazing color setting, trees shimmering with many shades of red and yellow, an amazing color spectacle is created. This place is also beautiful in winter, when the trees are covered with snow and the icy lakes create a fairy-tale landscape.

Ale najbardziej urzekający wśród tych jezior jest kolor wody i jej przejrzystość. Szmaragdowy kolor jezior dosłownie zwala z nóg, a jego odcieni są dziesiątki. Gdy dołączymy do tego niesamowitą oprawie kolorystyczną, drzewa mieniące się wieloma odcieniami czerwieni i żółci powstaje niesamowity spektakl kolorystyczny. To miejsce jest równie piękne zimą, gdy drzewa pokryte są śniegiem, a skute lodem jeziora tworzą bajkowy krajobraz.

There are various routes in the park, for more or less experienced globetrotters. The shortest one takes about 2 hours, and the longest one takes 8 hours to walk. You can also use small ships and queues. Unfortunately, as it is a National Park, you cannot make fires, fish or even drip there.

W parku są różne trasy, dla mniej lub bardziej wytrawnych globtroterów. Najkrótsza trwa około 2 godzin, a najdłuższa 8 godzin marszu. Można również korzystać z niewielkich stateczków oraz kolejki. Niestety jako że jest to Park Narodowy nie można tam rozpalać ognisk, łowić ryb, a nawet kapać się.

The lakes abound with many valuable species of fish. These are, among others, sea trout, charlock, brown minnow, chub, roach, brown trout and pike.

Jeziora obfitują w wiele cennych gatunków ryb. Są to między innymi troć wędrowna, golec, strzebla potokowa, kleń, płoć, pstrąg potokowy oraz szczupak.
