Disturbed by Her Country's Flag?

Defends Editorial Board Member 'Disturbed' by Sight of American Flags". So... when did it become a bad thing to display one's love of country? If I lived in a communist-run country where everything I did, said, and thought was dictated, then I would understand hating it (although I wouldn't be allowed to say it). I live in a country where we have freedoms. Many are quickly trying to take them away and part of that is hating our flag and anyone who flies it.

If you want to see the article click the link. NY Times Defends Editorial Board Member “Disturbed” by Sight of American Flags. Below is a quote from it.

Yesterday on MSNBC, the New York Times Editorial Board’s Mara Gay made an appearance to bizarrely rant about the “need to separate Americanness and whiteness” before she recalled recently being “disturbed” by the horror of seeing the American flag.

“I was on Long Island this weekend visiting a really dear friend, and I was really disturbed,” Gay said. “I saw, you know, dozens and dozens of pickup trucks with expletives against Joe Biden on the back of them, Trump flags, and in some cases just dozens of American flags, which is also just disturbing … Essentially the message was clear. ‘This is my country. This is not your country. I own this.’”

To me, this sounds like a person who wants it to be a crime to be white or to love their country.  I have two things to say about that. ONE, you are born the color you are, and attacking anyone for their color is WRONG! I don't care if you're white, brown, black, purple, or green. Well, if you're green you may want to go see a doctor. Joking aside, it is WRONG to judge anyone by the color of their skin! (And yes, any race can be racist.) And to say you shouldn't fly your country's flag... that is wrong too. If you are offended by someone displaying their country's flag, then I have three questions for you are... 1. Why do you hate your country? 2. Why is it wrong to fly the flag? and 3. Why do you still live here if you have such hatred?

Since when did flying your country's flag say "This is my country, not yours"? It doesn't! Sure... the majority of people flying American flags right now are probably patriotic Trump supporters. But the reason for that is that Trump supporters love this country. Many Democrats have chosen to listen to these hate-filled lies and started hating it themselves.

I like the fact that people can speak their minds in this country.  Used properly this can be a great strength to keep the scales balanced from any one group.  However, this has to be within the confines of a Democratic Republic.  If someone wants this country to be run like a Socialist country, you are barking up the wrong tree.

When people show disgust for this beautiful Republic it is very disappointing to me. If you can't stand the sight of your own country's flag and freedom of speech to fly such, may I suggest that you look for a communist or socialist country in which to move? It sounds like you believe that you would be much happier there.

It is ironic that there are so many people that live in this Country and complain about the rights of other people and yet are using those very same rights to speak out.  The United States of America has given the most opportunities, the most freedoms and the most equality than any other country.  Speak out, live your life, but don't attack the system that protects you.
