The painting "The Last Supper" by Leonardo da Vinci was painted around 1495-1498. Through the ages, many have pondered its meaning. Some think that the "John" figure is Mary Magdalene. To wonder what someone was thinking while making their art is fine. However, some people want to make doctrine based on a painting.
Why would a painting from over 1400 years after Yeshua's (Jesus') resurrection be the reason to change what we believe? Da Vinci was not around during Yeshua's life. Also, can we know what da Vinci was saying? Even more importantly, if we do know what he was saying, does it matter? Is it more important what da Vinci was saying than what the Bible says? No. What the Bible says is obviously more important.
No painting or individual's ideas are more important than the truths in the Bible. To put a painting above the Bible is idol worship. (Anything can be an idol.) It is your choice who or what you worship. But as for me, I believe the Bible and not anything that contradicts it. This includes art, music, or doctrine. My desire is to earnestly contend for the faith once and for all handed down by my God through the Bible regardless of current culture or beliefs.
