Why did Theta partner w/ DeepSeek?

Here on Pub0x I am a Theta Fan Boi, and I have been a Theta banner carrier for just about everything Theta has done since 2020. 

Well, now I am scratching my head as to why Theta partnered w/ DeepSeek-R1.  Sure DeepSeek tanked the global equity markets earlier this week by releasing their less expensive AI model.  But their terms of use document shows they own whatever you provide them access too.  Read it for yourselves. To make matters worse now OpenAI is coming out stating more than likely DeepSeek has inappropriately used its data.

I am going to pile on even more, as researchers Uncover Exposed DeepSeek Database Leaking Sensitive Data!

Researchers from leading cloud security company Wiz have published it's findings following the discovery of a publicly accessible database belonging to DeepSeek.  AI best practices state 'never share confidential information w/ any AI system'

If DeepSeek results are indeed accurate, this puts massive negative price pressure on NVIDIA . And subsequently Theta could find itself in a similar situation to what Cisco and Nortel faced after the dot-com bubble burst in the 2000 when they were driven down to near zero $0.

All this makes me wonder what the vetting process was from Theta's standpoint? 

At this point I am disappointed in Theta based on what I feel in a knee-jerk reaction. I hope I am 100% wrong!!

Summary

Perhaps the decision was fully vetted? I will never be in the know to find out. I  think it was a decision from the hip as most other partnerships come about very slowly and methodical. Has Theta lost some of its shine to me; yes!
