Theta Labs assigned new Patent
The United States Patent Office (USPTO) has assigned Theta a new Patent for Hybrid Edge-Cloud Computing Architecture
USPTO assigned Theta Patent number 12,436,819 for innovating how systems like Theta EdgeCloud address the limitations of traditional cloud computing by introducing a decentralized compute platform that integrates edge devices with cloud resources. Put another way Theta proposed overcoming challenges by introducing a decentralized orchestration layer that dynamically distributes workloads between the edge and the cloud and thus minimizing 'legacy' cloud shortcomings. WOW, calling Cloud offerings legacy, feels odd. But change is constant.
Theta's Patent 12,436,819 has three Architecture elements:
- First, there are the edge nodes, which can include IoT devices, gateways, or small servers situated close to data sources.
- Second, there is the cloud backend, which provides centralized resources for handling large-scale or resource-intensive computation.
- Finally, the orchestration layer connects the two, applying decision logic that accounts for factors such as latency requirements, resource availability, and current network conditions. The orchestration layer is essential to abstract and automate workload distribution.

Summary
Theta has nearly 15 US Patents, their latest feels like it will revolutionize Cloud computing. I wonder what impact this will bring to the Theta token price, being down nearly 30% on Friday alone.
