Brave Content Creators Worth Tipping BAT To - Part 2

By Tank | The Future Is Digital | 20 Feb 2021

A hand offering BAT coins forward

The internet is gigantic.  Brave Browser has a market share of 0.05%, means that, with a global internet user base of 4.66 Billion, Brave Browser users number around 2.33 million.  Or 13.5 million.  I think I just made a statistician roll over in their grave somewhere.

Unless you're a regular user of a site, you may not know that there is the option to support the team behind it with BAT tokens earned via the Brave Browser.  The internet has created a novel culture of open-source contributors and people who work tirelessly to provide free knowledge and support to their fellow human beings.  As users, we are used to our attention being the force behind their monetary gain, but there are other options to directly support some really wonderful creators who refuse to sell their users out.

I went through the top 200 - 400 Website content creators on BatGrowth.com and chose my favorite 8 to share with you (note: I only chose English, safe-for-work websites).  Please, if you use Brave browser, visit some of these sites and show them some love by tipping them some of your hard-earned BAT.

I also included some of the news sites that have signed up for the Brave Creator Rewards.

GENERAL WEBSITES

  • If you're into cryptocurrency, one of your best friends (and mine) is CoinGecko.  BAT em!

  • TORTOR TOR TORTorTorThe Tor project takes BAT tips.  For the love of God, tip them.
  • Your privacy is important, and VPNs are IMPORTANT.  VPNs are also, usually, expensive.  ProtonVPN provides a SECURE, FREE VPN service.  If you're flat broke, use their service, and BAT 'em.
  • Local radio stations may have seen their heyday come and go, but they're still an integral part of communities around the world.  Find yours, or someone else's, on Streema.
  • My partner and I started gardening quite a bit during the quarantine last year, and I used, almost exclusively, The Old Farmer's Almanac website.  It's a treasure trove.
  • I enjoy learning in general, and I've been "studying" the web design and Frontend engineering for a while.  Smashing does a good job with that.  If you learn something from a site, BAT 'em.  Also see W3Docs!
  • The Electronic Frontier Foundation has been a fundamental part of the internet for 30 years.  BAT 'em.

"The Electronic Frontier Foundation is the leading nonprofit organization defending civil liberties in the digital world. Founded in 1990, EFF champions user privacy, free expression, and innovation through impact litigation, policy analysis, grassroots activism, and technology development. We work to ensure that rights and freedoms are enhanced and protected as our use of technology grows."

NEWS

I haven't included many news sites this time around because... well... most of them were crap.  The ones that made this list were ones that I've seen before either directly (I read something written by them) or indirectly (I've seen them quoted by others).

Once again, crypto makes the digital world go 'round, friends.  Thanks for reading.
