WASHINGTON — President-elect Joe Biden, to support black communities, will hold his presidential inauguration in Nairobi, Kenya. The announcement came from Joe Biden’s Twitter account this morning.
“Joe is embracing his roots. We all come from the beautiful and ancient continent of Africa—the cradle of civilization. We hope to show the world that we appreciate the human race’s place of genesis and those closest to those original peoples,” a white spokeswoman wearing a dashiki told The Dingo.
The president-elect is facing backlash for planning to become the first American president inaugurated on foreign soil. Many took to social media to criticize Biden, condemning him as a traitor. Critics argue that he’s discriminating against white Americans in favor of minority communities.
High Tensions
These criticisms come only a week after a contentious speech where Biden announced that his administration will prioritize minority-and-women-owned businesses. “Our priority will be Black, Latino, Asian, and Native American owned small businesses, women-owned businesses, and finally having equal access to resources needed to reopen and rebuild,” reported ABC 7 News.
Tensions are high coming off the tailwind of an insurrection at the country’s Capitol on January 6th. The FBI warned state leaders that more protests are planned at all 50 state capitols. Critics argue this is the worst time to play up race politics given how many white Americans feel abandoned by the Democratic Party in recent years.
