(last update 2023/6/26)
Tipping and almost all other interactions with the Discord tip.cc robot are done via chat commands. They’re simply messages prefixed with, by default, the dollar sign ($). Although the tip command is as basic as "$tip @user amount cryptocurrency", it’s flexible and replaces commands known as rains, soaks or sprinkles in other bots. This guide will help you unleash its full potential — it does more than just tip users.
You can target either a single user or a whole group of people – whether by comma-separating them, mentioning a Discord role, or using special keywords. When tipping a group of users (raining), you can use keyword modifiers to select precisely which users you want to target, based on their activity, online status, and so forth.

---------------------------
1. Tipping and Modifiers to Tipping
First, decide on who you want to tip or reward.
- all -- Targets users regardless their online status. By default, when raining, only online users are selected;
- and -- Include additional recipients or conditions to a tip. You can also use just a comma (,);
- active -- Targets users based on their recent activity on the current channel. Specify precise limits by using, for example, active last 100 messages or active last 5 <time>. Can specify <hours>, <minutes>, <seconds>. Note that the bot only remembers a channel’s last 500 messages. Add the "all" modifier before to also target users who were active but are logged off;
- each -- Setting a tip so that each recipient receives the amount specified instead of sharing it.
- except -- Excludes specified user from getting the drop, for example: $tip active except @username 24 cryptocurrency each
- days -- Used to define a number as days. You can use the letter d, as in 10d equals 10 days, to a maximum of fourteen (14);
- gay -- Targets people with the rainbow icon in their name.
- here/everyone -- Targets everyone online on this server;
- hours -- Used to define a number as hours. You can use the letter h, as in 15h equals 15 hours;
- last -- Confining the tip to a set time period or number of posts, there is a limit of 500 posts, maximum.
- lucky -- If no number is listed, defaults to here/everyone
- minutes -- Used to define a number as minutes. You can use the letter m, as in 15m equals 15 minutes;
- nomention -- Turns being pinged by tips off and on. Default is on;
- number -- Limit the tip to a specific number of people. This has an upper limit set by the chat admin, and by default is 40.
- online/offline -- Choose users based on their online/offline status;
- random -- Picks a random person or a number of people.
- recent -- Includes people who were recently been online.
- @role -- Targets a Discord role;
- seconds -- Used to define a number as seconds. You can use the letter s, as in 25s equals 25 seconds;
- speaking -- Tips everyone active (not muted/deafened) on your Discord voice channel;
- spooky -- Targets people with a ghost, skull, or skull and crossbones icon in their name.
- stats <noembed> -- The status of your tipping account, as-in how much you have received versus how much you have given. The optional noembed command organizes the answer as a simple list, instead of a formated box.
- streamer -- Tips the current "Go Live" streamer on your Discord voice channel;
- @user -- Targets a single mentioned user. You can enter any part of a user's name as long as it is a standard letter or number. This gets around people who use emojii, foreign letters, or strange characters to start their name.
- username <with letter> -- Targets a single mentioned user, optionally select a user whose name starts with the specified letter.
- voice -- Selects the Discord voice channel;
Combining recipients together is easy. For example:
- $tip all xx cryptocurrency -- to tip everyone on the channel, online and offline;
- $tip 10 @here xx cryptocurrency -- limit the amount of people you wish to tip;
- $tip 15 lucky xx cryptocurrency -- tip five lucky people at random;
- $tip 1 active xx cryptocurrency -- tip one active person at random;
- $tip active xx cryptocurrency + yy cryptocurrency + zz cryptocurrency -- tip one active person at random, with the total of xx + yy +zz. must be the same cryptocurrency;
- $tip all @Developers xx cryptocurrency -- to tip all members of the Developers role, regardless of their online status;
- $tip 5 random members xx cryptocurrency -- to tip 5 random online members;
- $tip all @VIPs active last 5 hours xx cryptocurrency -- to tip VIPs who’ve spoken on the channel within the last 5 hours, regardless of their online status;
- $tip @Developers active in the last 100 messages xx cryptocurrency -- to tip VIPs who’ve spoken on the channel within the last 100 messages, regardless of their current online status;
- $tip 5 online @Developer and $tip10 offline @Member xx cryptocurrency each -- combine groups with and or a comma (,);
- $tip username 0.01$ cryptocurrency -- tip that user a penny's worthy of that cryptocurrency, the dollar-sign may either precede or follow the amount;
- $tip 1 random with username starting with a xx cryptocurrency -- tip a random user whose name starts with the letter a;
- $tip a recently active rand(0.01,100000) cryptocurrency -- tip a recently active user with a random amount of currency between one-hundreth and a hundred thousand of that cryptocurrency.
By default, when tipping a group of people, your tip will be split evenly between them. You can add the keyword "each" after your tip amount if you want your specified amount to be tipped to each individual instead of being split. For example: $tip 5 random members xx cryptocurrency each.
2. Monikers
If you want, instead of specifying an amount in a number, you can use a moniker. Monikers are custom arbitrary values, such as donuts or slices of pizza. These have been assigned an arbitrary value that is converted to the Discord chat’s default cryptocurrency. Type $monikers for a full list of the monikers available on the chat you’re using. Monikers are not available for airdrops. The following values can be used in tips in most chats on Discord. Fiat monikers (like USD, EUR) will be converted to the server's default cryptocurrency (Bitcoin).
- nickel (nickels) => $0.05
- dime (dimes) => $0.10
- quarter (quarters) => $0.25
- cookie (cookies) => $0.30
- pączek (pączki) => 1.20zł (≈ $0.30)
- donut (donuts) => $0.35
- cup of coffee (cups of coffee) => $1.50
- slice of pizza (slices of pizza) => $2.50
- taco (tacos) => $2.50
- pie (pies) => $3.14
- beer (beers) => $3.50
- month of discord nitro classic (months of discord nitro classic) => $4.99
- high five (high fives) => $5.00
- lunch (lunches) => $8.00
- month of discord nitro (months of discord nitro) => $9.99
- pizza (pizzas) => $10.00
- dinner (dinners) => $15.00
- birthday cake (birthday cakes) => $25.00
- bottle of moet (bottles of moet) => $40.00
- year of discord nitro classic (years of discord nitro classic) => $49.99
- year of discord nitro (years of discord nitro) => $99.99
- lamborghini (lamborghinis) => $467,000.00
For example:
- $tip online @Police a pizza
- $tip all @Police a coffee and a taco each
- $tip 10 users active last 100 messages a beer each
If you have insufficient funds for the tip bot to carry out the command, it will tell you.
3. Amounts
After specifying whom you want to tip, and adding the necessary modifiers, if any, you can specify a value for the cryptocurrency you want to use. You can use a monikers (see above) or specify any value — cryptocurrency or fiat (real world currencies). Example fiat values: $1.50 (will use chat's default cryptocurrency), $5 ETH (for $5 worth of Ether), 5 cents, 100 Euros. The dollar-sign may either precede the amount or follow it. You can also combine them using and or a comma (,), just as the and and comma can be used with recipients and monikers. Fiat value tips and monikers -- dollars, coffees, etc. -- will be converted to the default server's cryptocurrency. For very large amounts kk or m means a million, that is 80kk translates to 80,000,000, as does 80m. For example:
- $tip online 80kk
- $tip @oknu#7863 $5
- $tip @oknu#7863 5$
- $tip @oknu#7863, @hart#3050 100 dogecoins
- $tip a random person 10 BTC
- $tip 10 users active last 100 messages a beer each
- $tip my voice channel $50 ETH
- $tip 100 satoshi
4. Other Commands
In addition to the tipping commands, there are other commands that let you do fun and interesting things in the chat, as well as let you monitor and control your tapping wallet.
- $airdrop <amount> <coin> <xx duration or xx duration xx people> -- Distributes the amount and cryptocurrency coin to all people currently in chat. There is a maximum of 14 days. For example, "$airdrop $1 cryptocurrrency 30m 10" will create an airdrop of $1 of the specified cryptocurrency total, for up to 30 minutes or up to 10 users (after which the airdrop will end). The reward will get split evenly between participating users after the airdrop ends. If no duration time limit is specified, the system defaults to three (3) minutes. Users collect airdrops selecting the Enter Airdrop (🎉) or a similar reaction box, below the message. Unfortunately, there is no indication if you have entered an airdrop. Clicking an airdrop twice, however, will get you a reply that you have already entered this airdrop Keep in mind the airdrop amount is split evenly between all participants. The option each cannot be used with this command.
- $bal -- gives balance in Bitcoin Wallet.
- $bals <top> cryptocurrrency>, <<cryptocurrrency>, <cryptocurrrency>, <cryptocurrrency>> <noembed> -- gives the coin balances in all Wallets, in Alphabetical order by the Company. Using top lists the coins in most-to-least amount order. The comma to separate the cryptocurrencies specified, if only certain ones are wanted, is required. Including noembed gives a simple list instead of a columned list in a box.
- $coll -- your collection of coins.
- $convert <amount> <cryptocurrrency> <cryptocurrrency> <cryptocurrrency> etc -- converts the amount of the cryptocurrency/cryptocurrencies into these fiat currencies: Argentine peso, Australian dollar, Canadian Dollar, European Euros, British pounds, New Zealand dollars, Polish Zloty, and US Dollars. You can also specify an amount of fiat (i.e., $1, £3, €3, etc.) and see how much of the specified cryptocurrency that represents, and its value in the other fiat currencies..
- $currencies <noembed> -- The current list of supported cryptocoins and tokens -- several pages long. Including noembed gives a simple list instead of a columned list in a box.
- $deposit <cryptocurrency you want to deposit> -- To deposit coins to your tip.cc wallet. For example "$deposit btc" in a Direct Message (to the bot, only!). For privacy reasons, this command can only be used in Direct Messages. The bot will respond with your own unique deposit address (along with its QR code), to which you can send coins from your own wallet. Depending on the cryptocurrency you’re using, you might need to wait a little for the network to process the transaction (wait for confirmations), or pay deposit fees (mainly for ERC20 tokens). Some coins might give you multiple deposit addresses. Not all wallets support all address formats, so use the one you find the most convenient for you. Some coins or tokens will charge you a deposit fee from deposits you make. This fee is necessary for all ERC20 tokens and some other coins, and is not dictated by tip.cc. When using "$deposit," you will be given the exact or estimated deposit fee. Some coin deposits also require the use of a memo, destination tag. When sending coins from your wallets it’s important to include them along the deposit address, otherwise we will not be able to credit your deposits.
- $escrow <sell or buy> <amount> <cryptocurrrency> for <amount> <cryptocurrrency> — Escrow for currency exchanging. Use to safely exchange, user-to-user, any currency to another currency. For example $escrow sell 0.001 BTC for 100 DOGE or $escrow buy $1 ETH for $1 BTC. Anyone will be able to take your trade offer for 3 minutes. Unfortunately, only currencies with no market value are currently allowed to be traded.
- $fees <<cryptocurrrency>, <cryptocurrrency>, <cryptocurrrency>> -- Retrieves the average network fees for the listed cryptocurrencies in Bitcoin and Ethereum, arranged from fastest to slowest. Commans between the cryptocurrencies are required. Bitcoin is fastest, 30 minutes, and 1 hour. Ethereum is 14 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, and ten minutes. The rates are listed in the order of the cryptocurrencies specified. The data is retrieved from mempool.space and SparkPool.
- $faucet <cryptocurrency> -- To see the faucets available for a particular currency, if any.
- $mathdrop <amount> <cryptocurrency> <duration> <max entries><"equation"> -- Users (limited by <max entries>) who solve the equation in the quotes, such as "10 + 10 * 8", collect/share the amount. There is a 100-character limit to the equation. Maximum 10 minute duration. Multiple guesses are allowed. Also expressions such as: ceil(random(1, 100)), or round(random()).
- $mining <cryptocurrency> -- To see mining stats for the specified cryptocurrency, if available.
- $musicdrop <amount> <cryptocurrency> <duration> <max entries> -- Users guess the song the bot is playing (Randomly plays one from a catalog of over 200 songs). Tune plays at the "General" voice channel. For example: $musicdrop 1000 CAPT for 30 minutes for 7 users. Multiple guesses are allowed.
- $phrasedrop <amount> <cryptocurrency> <duration> <max entries><"phrase"> -- Users who type the phrase before the time or entry limit will share the reward. Copy-and-pasting the phrase from the phrasedrop box will fail. There is a 100-letter-only limit in creating a phrasedrop, and uppercase/lowercase do not matter. Numbers, commas, apostrophes, and other punctuation cannot be used and will cause the phrasedrop to fail with an error box. Interestingly, spaces between words are ignored in responses!
- !ping -- Gives the Command Latency: xx.xxxms and Websocket Latency: yy.yyms. Only works in bot-spam chat of tip.cc server.
- $pools <cryptocurrency> -- for mining stats.
- $portfolio <noembed> -- Gives a pie chart of the Cryptocurrencies you owned (top five dollar amounts only).
- $redenvelope <amount> <cryptocurrency> <time limit> -- Like an airdrop, except the whole amount goes to the first user to react.
- $redpacket <amount> <cryptocurrency> <time limit> -- Like an airdrop, except the whole amount goes to the first user to react.
- $roll <cryptocurrency> -- To see information about social tokens.
- $servers -- Displays a catalog of the chats on the server, as well as the members online versus total.
- $store <modifier> <duration> -- Some servers have a store. The command, alone, lists the items and their prices. Modifiers are buy, delete, gift <user>, and sell. There is usually a time-limit to the item. The duration of the subscription can be minutes, hours, or days. This will be specified in the item description, as will the price of the item.
- $ticker <cryptocurrency> <noembed> -- To see that cryptocurrencies price chart. Only coins listed on CoinGecko will display.
- $tip -- see Section One, above.
- $triviadrop <category> <amount> <coin> <duration minutes> -- Users answer a trivia question. There currently is no way to add custom questions to the database. Current duration has a maximum of 10 minutes. If a category is not chosen, one is selected at random. Supported categories are: general (knowledge), books, film, music, theatre, tv, games, boardgames, science, computers, math, mythology, sports, geography, history, politics, art, celebrities, animals, comics, gadgets, anime (and manga), and cartoons.
- $top <cryptocurrency>-- This lists the Top Tippers in the cryptocurrency specified. If no cryptocurrency is specified, the the Top Tippers for the entire Server are listed. This command cannot be used with and or a comma (,).
- $uniswap <name or symbol> -- Shows Uniswap data about the selected Ethereum token listed on CoinGecko (That is, the price in fiat dollars, Ethereum, and market data, including Total Liquidity, Pooled token amount, Pooled Ethereum amount, Trading Volume and Transactions today.) You can query any non-default tokens that are listed on CoinGecko by supplying its contract address in place of the name, such as $uniswap 0x9355372396e3F6daF13359B7b607a3374cc638e0.
- $whos <modifier> <time span> -- Lists people currently on the server or in this server's current chat. Modifiers are: active (people typing and active in that chat channel), online (total signed in but not necessarily active in that chat channel), here, everyone, lucky (everyone on the server), spooky (people with the ghost, skull, or skull and crossbones icons in their name/nickname), gay (total on that server), and @username, (identifies the person using that nickname in the current channel). Channel is the specific chat you are in, such as welcome, announcements, giveaways, suggestions, and so forth. Server is the collection of chats and services in a server domain, such as FimFiction, BAT Brigade, Hartsfire Gaming, and so forth. Time spans include <hours>, <minutes>, or <seconds>, with a 15-minute default..
- $withdraw <cryptocurrency you want to withdraw> -- To send the coins to your private wallet or another service (e.g. $withdraw btc), via a direct message to the bot. You will be asked for the destination wallet, so have it ready, otherwise this command will automatically cancel in about thirty seconds. You will then be asked the amount. Almost all coins and tokens have withdrawals fees. These fees are not dictated by tip.cc, and go entirely to cover network fees of the transaction. You will be given an estimate for the transaction costs after specifying the amount. Fees might be especially high when the network is under load. You may cancel at any time before the final authorization step to remove the cryptocurrency from your Discord wallet to the destination.
Be careful when showing your balance on a public channel, which is not intended for bot commands on any server, as scammers can send you a message in private trying to trick you and steal your money. Fortunately, you can delete the message from the $bals command by clicking the "X" emoji in the chat stream.
To keep things private, in the tip.cc chat, click the Home Icon in the top left to get your Direct Messages. Use the Direct Messaging system for reviewing sensitive information.
