IOTA Upwards or Downwards?

Is there still hope for IOTA?

IOTA was once a major topic of discussion, but has it maintained its relevance?

For those unfamiliar with IOTA, delving into its Tangle technology is recommended (there are abundant blog posts and information available) before reading further.

In essence, IOTA is a cryptocurrency recognized for its feeless transactions and groundbreaking Tangle technology, which seeks to address scalability challenges inherent in conventional blockchain networks.

During the 2016-2017 bull run, IOTA garnered significant attention, touted as the solution to the blockchain trilemma (security, scalability, decentralization) due to it's unique selling point (USP).
Enthusiasts heavily invested, envisioning it as the Holy Grail of the crypto space.

However, despite its unique selling point, IOTA faces hurdles.
While it aspires to resolve these issues with a solution called Coordicide, progress has been sluggish.
Six years on, Coordicide, now called IOTA 2.0, remains unfinished.

Moreover, internal challenges such as centralized supply increases and the introduction and subsequent withdrawal of solutions (like Assembly) have stirred turmoil within the IOTA community.
Consequently, trust in the project has wavered, impacting not only its but also the reputation of the IOTA Foundation.

Does it mean it's game over for IOTA?
To address this question, let's examine how IOTA has evolved in recent years.

Despite undergoing various changes in its vision, not always favorably received, IOTA has also demonstrated significant progress.
It remains one of the most active projects in terms of development, as evidenced by their GitHub activity.
Introducing new technologies like the Shimmer network and Chrysalis protocol, forging numerous partnerships, and designing a new wallet for its currency (M)IOTA are noteworthy achievements.

Regarding its core feature, the completion of Coordicide (IOTA 2.0), the testnet is already operational, with the main launch expected to launch in the near future.

For those curious about IOTA's ongoing projects, the foundation provides a transparent roadmap, which makes it easy to understand for those who are interested in the project.

So, is it game over for IOTA?
In my view, I don't think IOTA is done for at all - on the contrary, it is far from over!

They didn't let the public's opinions sway them from their goals and vision, ensuring they stay true to their promises.
This is why their community stands out as one of the most loyal in the entire crypto sphere.

To sum up, despite the challenges and ongoing criticisms, IOTA's continued progress speaks volumes for itself. At least, that's my honest take on it.

I'm curious, though, about your perspective on the current state of IOTA.
Have you been interested or invested in IOTA, and how do you perceive its current development?
