Hyperion (HYN) is a blockchain project that is attempting to build a “decentralized map platform” - which is “a unified global map of data and service.” The project was founded by Kai Law, Eric Huang, Guangxian Zou and Isaac Zhang in 2018. The project uses a unique protocol called the Spatial Consensus protocol.
Focused primarily on mapping and location based services, the Hyperion team has already launched a decentralized application called Titan, which is available on both the Android and iOS app stores. The dapp is described as the first privacy aware map application. Location data on the app is untraceable, the team says, and can be burned at the behest of the user.
Another dapp, called Map3, is currently in the works and users can run a node for it. It enables a “new spatial data usage model” that improves scale, performance and cost factors by a 1000 fold, allegedly. The dapp should be fully functional this quarter or the next.
There isn’t much in the way of details with respect to development progress. However, the team has mentioned that they do expect to launch the platform on the mainnet in Q3 2019.
