Hello Publish0x family! I am a poet and a writer who just recently tumbled down the Web3 rabbit hole. I am still learning, but my excitement was so huge that I decided to do something brave (and completely foolish): I tried to explain Cryptocurrency to the people in my traditional village.
Let me give you some context. In my village, "seeing is believing". Hard work means physically doing something, and money is only real if you can fold it and put it in your pocket.
So, imagine me, someone who barely understands how a blockchain works, trying to explain "digital decentralized assets" to my neighbors. I told them, "Look! I can write articles on Publish0x, and people from across the globe will tip me in magical internet coins!"
They looked at me like I had lost my mind.
To them, crypto sounds like a fairy tale or some kind of magic trick. In fact, their mindset is so rooted in the physical world that I can confidently say this: If I put a 10,000 Indonesian Rupiah bill (which is less than $1) in my left hand, and 10 Bitcoin in my right hand, and told them to choose... they would snatch the 10,000 Rupiah without a second thought! 😂
Why? Because with 10,000 Rupiah, they can immediately walk to the local traditional stall, buy a hot cup of coffee, and some fried snacks. But 10 Bitcoin? "What is that? Can I hold it? Can I eat it? No? Keep your imaginary coins, kid."
The funniest part of this whole situation? I was trying to act like a crypto preacher to them, but deep down, I am still terribly confused myself! When someone mentions "Smart Contracts" or "Gas Fees," I silently panic. I am basically a clueless person trying to guide other clueless people through the metaverse!
But this hilarious experience taught me a valuable lesson. Mass adoption takes time, especially in rural areas. I can’t just tell my village about crypto; I have to show them.
My goal now is to keep writing, keep learning here on Publish0x, and one day, cash out my crypto earnings to buy everyone in the village a real, physical cup of coffee.
Until then, I will proudly be the weird writer in the village who smiles at his phone over "invisible internet money." Wish me luck! 🚀☕
