According to Google, Bitrefill has no flat fees when it comes to standard gift cards. They are priced at their face value. However, recently I realized that I pay more than I should’ve. You see, when you are broke, you are very careful about where your money goes. similar thing happened to me. My BitRefill balance came to an all-time low. I had just the money for three 50(local currency) phone refills when I did the math. However, after two refills, I had no money left for a third recharge.
I'm like, so Bitrefill does, in fact, charge a fee. So, to double-check, I refilled my bitrefill usd balance with 4 dollars. Then I did the same 50 phone refill. After the checkout, I saw I had paid more than I should have.
So I dug deeper.
Turned out that when Bitrefill exchanges your USD in the Bitrefill balance to your local currency, they use a different exchange rate than the one google shows. This happens everywhere. Even in banks and airport kiosks. You don't always get the best rate possible. They do this to take a profit. They call it the "spread". They can call it whatever they want; In my books, it's a fee. And unfortunately, I have to be okay with that fee. As long as it is low and affordable, I'm ok. (They gotta make a profit somehow, right?) But however, it is a hidden fee. It happens at a deeper level. That's the problem. They are not transparent about that. you just have to know it.
That's it guys. hope you learned something.
