Hi guys,
this weeks Battle Challenge is about the Silent Sha-Vi. It's start of the season and as everyone else I'm trying to get back to my original league and tier, which is silver 1. I have a very exemplary battle and common strategy I use with death, that I'm going to talk about in this post.
Let's go!

The Card

As always a quick introduction to the card: Silen Sha-Vi is a Chaos Legion death melee attacking card with 3 abilities.
- Level 1 - Sneak
- Level 6 - Cripple
- Level 10 - Piercing
These abilities synergize very well with one another, with sneak usually always being a useful ability and piercing being very strong with cards that have high melee attack. Silent Sha-Vi has also very good stats, starting out with 2 attack and a decent 5 health and slowly ramping up everything from attack and speed to health as you level him up. Overall it's a very well rounded card that can be used effectively with other sneak monsters to take out the enemy backline.
Quick tip: Check the price of the gold foil version, it has recently been cheaper compared to the amount of normal foil cards you need for certain levels.

The Ruleset
The ruleset was Equalizer and Lost Magic with 18 mana and every Splinter except Dragon available. In low/mid mana rulesets I like Death a lot and I'll show you why down below.

The Line Up & Strategy
Thaddius Brood: My only leveled up death summoner
Corpse Fiend: Meatshield for 0 mana
Chaos Agent: Meatshield for 1 mana
Silent Sha-vi: Sneak
Uraeus: Sneak
Soul Strangler: Damage
Weirding Warrior: Damage
Death has a lot of strong low mana cards, that pack quite the punch or have great abilities, but not too much health, like Soul Strangler and Weirding Warrior. These cards are perfect for Equalizer battles, as everyone gets health equal to the highest health monster on the field.
I Chose two very low/no mana cards as my tanks, because they would get high health and therefore be harder to take down. Behind that I used two sneak attackers with Sha-vi and Uraues. You always want to focus your attacks as much as possible, because if for example the enemy has a monster with armor or heal in the last position, one sneak attacker might not be enough to get through that in time.
To utilize the Equalizer rule a bit more I used two strong archers with Soul Strangler and weirding Warrior in the last positions.
Round 1

My opponent made a huge mistake in using an expensive monster like Mycelic Infantry, because with now all my low cost monsters get the same 7 health and become very tanky. He also used up so much of his mana that there wasn't much room for other cards, so he only has a repait that deals no damage and one sneak attacker, which will never get through my archer's health in time.
We start off with attacks against his backline, leaving the Goblin Thief barely alive with 1 health. Shatter breaks the Infantry's entire armor so that Soul Strangler can get a good hit in. On the other side, my monster's take the hits, but nothing that I have to be worried about.
Round 2

Round two plays out very similar to round 1: We take out the Goblin Thief, before it can attack and hit Scavo Hireling for 2. We break the Infantry's armor and get another good hit in and we tank it's damage of 3 with our 0 mana cost card, that' still alive after 2 rounds. Scavo Hireling repairs the Infantry's armor.
Round 3

My sneak attack duo goes first and takes out the Scavo Hireling, followed by Weirding Warrior breaking the Infantry's armor and Soul Strangler taking it out. All over, before a single of my monsters died.

Conclusion

Unfortunately I didn't find any stronger opponents on my way up the ranks and because my opponent didn't have any leveled up cards this was a rather easy victory for me. However, they made a fundamental mistake that you should avoid in Equalizer rulesets and that is to play few but expensive monsters. As you saw my 0 mana cost "tank" survived until the end, simply because he got equal the health of their 8 mana cost tank.
Silent Sha-vi did good though and I hope seeing the card leveled up and in action convinced you to get a copy (leveled up), as prices for cards are super cheap and affordable right now. I personally like and use the card a lot and think it's one of death's best cards from the Chaos Legion set.
