Splinterlands battles | Learn by example

In this series I want to showcase certain battles where you can learn from mistakes or from successful strategies.

The battle

Not too long ago I made a splinterlands battles post about noxious fumes + low mana. I presented a solid strategy, but there is another very effective strategy here and that includes using cleanse. I know most beginners don't have too mana (or none) cleanse options, but for those of you who do, this might be a good option.

Cleanse

The most important strategy concept here is the inclusion of a low mana cleanse unit: the herbalist. Note that she only gets cleanse at level 3, but there are some units with the cleanse ability at level 1.

The idea is that even though the herbalist will die after turn 1, and in the best scenario deal 1 damage, she will play a huge role. She will use her ability on your "star of the game" (in this case the goblin mech) before she dies.

This way, your most important monster will not be hurt by the poison and will have great chances of outlasting the enemy team.

Postioning

Another interesting thing is that even though the entire strategy evolves around the goblin mech being in first position, he doesn't start in first position, the chicken does.

The idea is that the chicken will absorb a blow that otherwise would get absorbed by the goblin mech.

This leaves him in a better position for the next rounds. However, if you are playing against a very weird lineup and your chicken doesn't die before herbalist has to attack, the strategy will pretty much screwed. However, I don't think that would happen often/at all.

Backline

In the backline I have put an almo cambio, but this is not crucial to this strategy. You could also go for a high health magic or ranged unit. It's up to you!

Stages

Let's go over the stages of the battle:

Round 1:

Round 2:
At this point, it's already pretty clear that we are in a very good position.
The only thing that might have been a problem here is facing a high magic damage team.
However, they would still need to kill Almo before the poison kills them, so it might still be close.

Round 3:
Good game, well played, this is over.

They damaged the "star of the game" up until 4 health, which is pretty low, but considering there is a 7 mana unharmed monster behind him, this wasn't really a close game.

Good game!
Not a bad lineup from my opponent, but this strategy is just pretty strong in these circumstances.

Participants can claim SBT rewards

What Is SBT?
SBT is short for splinterlands battle tokens.
It's a token that is made to reward people who had an awesome splinterland battle!

If you wanna know more about SBT Check out this post by the creator of the token. It explains all the uses for it and milestones to come. Link to the post here: SBT Milestones You May Have Missed.

Credit to @ itzninjafool for coming up with this idea and sponsoring many of us to give it out and spread it around to the community.

Rules
Only participants can claim rewards (both loser and winner - it takes 2 players to create an awesome battle). However, only if you have not yet received an SBT reward. For example, if this is a battle that you submitted for an SBT Giveaway challenge and you have already been rewarded you will not be eligible.

If you are eligible to earn the SBT reward, simply comment on this post and I will send you 2500 SBT.
