Hello everyone! This week's Splinterlands Battle Challenge features DRAGONS! If you are also interested in participating, check their post here - SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! DRAGONS!

Among the 6 Splinters in the world of Splinterlands, the Dragon Splinters are the most unique. When you play using Dragon Summoners, you can also summon monsters from other Splinters aside from Dragon monsters. Dragon summoners work well with other elements ranging from magic, ranged or melee attack monsters.

BYZANTINE KITTY STATS AND LORE For this post, let's review one of the Dragon Summoners - BYZANTINE KITTY! I will be also sharing some of my cool battles using this card in Bronze League - Modern Format. Before going through the details, let check first this card's stat and lore. 23wCE9PDMdwX4jxDya9UuMR3PzbpFYMxDhaTqbe9ecSNLRR5qpGxEBvYC4eyJX8tLXpqy.png

Edition: Untamed
Rarity: Legendary
Element: Dragon
Abilities: All friendly Monsters have +2 Speed.
All friendly monsters receive the True Strike ability at the start of the battle.
This Summoner will heal the Monster in the first position on their team each round.

Be not distracted by cuteness and fluff,
Byzantine Kitty is cuddly but tough,
If you dare to think kitty is merely a pet,
You haven’t faced kitty in battle just yet.
-- Byzantine Kitty Lore

BYZANTINE KITTY BATTLES image.png Byzantine Kitty is one of those cards that you should have when you are competing for Leaderboard. I am now playing for Bronze Leaderboard and there are a few battles that I want to share using this card. Its +2 Speed buff plus True Strike and Healing ability can turn the tide of the battle when used correctly. The only downside of this card, I think, is its mana cost which is 7. Let's check first the ability of this card that it can give to allied monsters.     image.png True Strike: This monster's attacks cannot miss. Blind doesn't affect monster with True Strike image.png Tank Heal: Restores a portion of the Monster in the first position's health each round. Restores 1/3 of the max health, rounded up.

BATTLE #1 The first battle is on a tournament sponsored by BlockRaiders. Below is the line-up I used in this battle. In this battle, the rulesets are Back to Basics and Odds Ones Out. The mana cap is 15 only. Because of the ruleset, and low mana cap, I tried an interesting line up. I used Almo Cambio as my Tank and Theorosa Nightshade as my attacker. Since all monsters lose their ability, my Theorosa Nightshade will not be targeted by backdoor attackers. Almo Cambio has a sweet 12 HP which will be healed by Byzantine Kitty ever round.

Also, because of +2 Speed buff from Byzantine Kitty, the enemy will likely to miss their attack like here.

And even though the opponent has 3 attackers, Byzantine Kitty will just heal the damage taken by Almo Cambio while Theorosa Nightshade is slowly killing each monster.

Here is the full replay in Splinterlands and Youtube. This battle is quite interesting for me because this is the first time that I used this kind of configuration. Luckily I won the battle and will probably try this again in my next battles.

BATTLE #2 The 2nd battle is one of my battles for Bronze Leaderboard. Below is the line-up I used in this battle. In this battle, the ruleset is Standard and the mana cap is 24. Because of the available elements which are Death and Dragon, I predicted that the opponent will use Thaddius Brood. So as much as possible, I do not want to use a Magic Attack monsters. In this configuration, I used Naga Brute to tank the damage from Magic Attack monsters and it also has 8 Shield for that can withstand all kinds of attack because of its Void Armor ability. My main attacker here is Dragon Jumper. With its 5 Speed, Flying and Opportunity abilities, I put my trust in this card to eliminate the opponent monsters.

Dragon Jumper quickly eliminated Chaos Agent.

And then the Undead Badger.

Honestly, I thought that I will lose in this battle because the opponent has backdoor attacker, too, which is Silent Sha-Vi.

image.png

Good thing is that its attack missed on Dragon Jumper.

image.png

Not once, but twice. And that gives room for Dragon Jumper to eliminate Silent Sha-Vi insted.

image.png

However, Dragon Jumper was also eliminated because of Cursed Windeku's Thorn. Good thing is that Byzantine Kitty is Healing Naga Brute each round and that contributed to this win.

BATTLE #3 My 3rd battle is my favorite. Its LLama-Kron Combo versus Kitty-Lich Combo. The mana cap is 17 and the ruleset disallowed the use of Melee Attack monsters. With this configuration, the opponent's line-up is quite predictable. And If I also used Llama-Kron Combo, there is a chance that I will lose. With that in mind, since Death element is available, I used one of the line-ups that I know that can defeat Llaman-Kron in a 17-mana cap battle. The idea here is simple. I put Ancient Lich at the last position and will put as much as possible monsters in front of it. I need Ancient Lich to accumulate enough HP so that it will be healed by Byzantine Kitty while also doing Life Leech.

image.png

Kron The Undying with Last Stand eliminated my monsters until it reached Ancient Lich at Round 4. Ancient Lich accumulated 9 HP from a starting point of 3 HP.

Here is Ancient Lich's HP in Round 14.

image.png

And here is Ancient Lich's HP in Round 21. Fatigue is already kicking in in this round.

image.png

And with the help of fatigue, my line up won with Ancient Lich's HP of 56 in Round 27.

Did your strategy work? Yes, my strategy worked. With Byzantine Kitty's Tank Heal, monsters in the first position was able to withstand the attack from the enemy, giving way for my attackers to eliminate the opponent. Byzantine Kitty's +2 Speed and True Strike also really helped because some of the opponent's monsters missed while all of my monsters will not miss their attack.

What will you try differently next time? I think I want to explore other combos using Byzantine Kitty in Bronze League - Modern Format. It's quite fascinating when you see your opponent's monster missed.
