Various plant leaves (Apple, Asparagus, Strawberry and Olive tea tree) - Macro Photography

By Solominer | Solominer | 11 May 2020

Walking through my yard I got to see many plants budding. Not all with flowers, some with just leaves. But spring is here for sure and the plants are ready to grow. The first picture is of my Apple tree, the fresh growth has a fuzzy feeling to it. Like a Lambs Ear plant, but as it grows it becomes more smooth. Compared to the Cherry leaves they seem very delicate. But both were vigorous growers. And I think within a few years both the Apple trees and Cherry trees will be covered in leaves and hopefully flowers.

The Spiderwart plants are growing as well, I divided them and spread them out and they all seem to be doing good. Its purple blue flowers and bright yellow center has a nice look to its flowers.

The Asparagus is coming up as well, little shoots coming out of the ground. I cannot eat them yet, need to let them grow a few years to gain strength underground.

A purple Asparagus plant, I got half green ones and half purple. Figured growing both would be a nice change as Ill have alot of it.

Not all of the shoots are growing at the same rate, some are quicker than others.

One of the Apple trees with fresh growth. The fuzzy look is due to the new leaves. They will lose that appearance as they mature.

A close up of one of the Apple leaves, I wonder if any bugs collect the fuzz to make homes with. Ive heard some Bees do, but they only occur in the UK as far as I know.

I am really surprised how well the Olive tea tree is growing. Its reached at least fifteen feet in the last seven years. Seeing the vanes through the leaves has a very special look in the light. It can be seen in a few of the leaves in the photo.

Fresh Strawberry leaves, the red tips of the leaves is something new to me. Ive never seen that before. I will need to keep an eye on them and see if they lose those red tips over time.

Some Apple flowers, I loved how they smell. And their appearance was a nice treat, I did not expect them within the first year of planting. But I got a lovely surprised in the end. Not sure if they will form into Apples, as only one of my trees flowered. But ill keep an eye on them and give an update if they do.
