During the late spring Aphids form on the fresh Japanese Aralia leaves, I was capturing some macro video of the Ants managing the Aphids. Then a little Wasp the size of an ant flew in frame and checked out one Aphid and then grabbed another and flew off.
The ants did not seem to notice at the time, I wonder what the fate of the little Aphid is. Did the Wasp lay eggs inside of it for its young to feed on the Aphid and hatch? Or is the Wasp starting its own Aphid farm, like an insect cattle rustler?
