On a morning in early December my and I pack our bags and drive a few hundred miles West. We cross into Alabama and about an hour later we arrive at his property. The first day was dry and quite warm, I was dressed in shorts and a tshirt which is unusual for December.
By the next day the temperature dropped by 10 degrees and the rain set in. My tent protected me from most of the rain and cold through over time water was finding its way under the rain flaps on my tent, due to the driving nature of the wind and the rain at the time.
I wake up around 7am hearing the rain outside, it would pick up and then settle down in cycles for the next year hours. Waiting for my friends to wake up I hang out in my tent until its light and there is a break in the rain.
I cook us some macaroni and goat cheese with ground beef. Using a little propane stove I brought it made easy work. I was thankful for his cover from the rain while I was cooking.
My friend chops wood for us and we talk as he works. Im enjoying the coffee brewed. Luckily his solar trailer had enough power to handle my coffee percolator. So no need to start a campfire to make my cuban coffee. It would have been quite rough in the rain so I was thankful for his solar setup.
The ground is so muddy trying to chop wood is pretty hard to do but overtime he gets it done and we have firewood for later on when the weather clears up.
