2013 Bitcoin Commemorative Copper round

2013 Bitcoin Commemorative Copper round

By Solominer | Solominer | 27 Jan 2020

I was given this coin by a co-worker back in 2014. In an office of 300 people only 2-3 people knew about Bitcoin at the time. We talked about it alot in are spare time and one day he gives me this round as a gift.

I started stacking other metals in 2019, but this coin was the first round in my collection. It has alot of sentimental value to me. As 2014 to now I have seen amazing progress and it just gives me feels thinking about when I was given the coin.

At the time he handed me the coin the price of Bitcoin was $2000 and could not believe it even got there. Let alone to $20k as it get there not too long afterwards.

Working in an office with developers gave me unique opportunities to talk about upcoming tech, and sure enough Bitcoin was one of them. By the time I left my job in 2018 everyone in the office heard about Bitcoin. What a change from 2013 till then.

JM Bullion sells a 2016 copper Bitcoin for only a few dollars.

Not sure where mine came from, I didnt ask my coworker when he gave it to me. I remember when they first came out you had to buy them from users on Bitcointalk but pretty cool to see major bullion suppliers offering these coins now. Though the 2013 is worth about twice as much as the 2016 coins being sold now.

Looking forward to picking up my silver Steem @enginewitty got me for Christmas. Once I get my truck and life straightened out looking forward to meeting him with @ryulincoln and getting my hands on another commemorative round but this time for Steem. I think the memories of Steem going forward will be just as powerful as my memories of 2014 with BTC.
