In Tolkien's works, he stayed well away from Allegory, and I seek the same for my works. I try to keep them within-themselves...not reflecting our world at all, except where absolutely unavoidable. Within the universe is it's OWN history and own relevancies, as example.
I am NOT Tolkien, obviously, and do not consider myself even close but his works serve as a source of Guidance and inspiration, a 'compass' and 'lighthouse' to help me find the path I'm looking to travel, Tolkien among other Masters I follow in the footsteps of, they guide my way to what I hope to find in my ability.
I am working on laying down the foundation for a work that's experimental but needs to be attempted.
It's a work set entirely and exclusively on the K'Syth Homeworld of Z'Va'Hoolh and is meant to be a 'tour' or exploration of that world, culture, places, people and all else that makes it what it is.
I have the main character/s...one or maybe two, unsure...but they're young, fresh out of the Academy, Titled and seeking inspiration as to what to do with their lives so they engage in something akin to the Australian Aboriginal practice of 'Walkabout', which as I have learned is not unique to Australian Aborigines, and similar is practiced across many Aboriginal peoples including my own; Blackfoot Native American Aboriginals.
My mind keeps cycling over and over on scenes from The Hobbit and some from LOTR...but mainly the opening scene of Desolation of Smaug at the town with rainfall and the Prancing Pony tavern/Inn.
...the brain's gathering pieces that 'feel' a certain way, like collecting shards of broken glass with which to make a window from. it's also gathering and gleaning from many, many other sources across my memory...anything with powerful scenery and the like.
I am developing the written and spoken languages of the K'Syth, as I have a lot of notes about such and this work allows me to really delve into it without derailing a larger story-driver. Here, it 'fits-in' perfectly. There are two Dialects; Ancient and Modern as well as I will have to make the Font to show what K'Syth Written looks like.
it won't be easy to write, but it will be fun, and it's something I hope the audience will climb into, cozy up with and truly enjoy on an immersive level...absolute escapism with all the trimmings.
That's why I write, one main reason...you folks need an Oasis vs. the world's real-life stress, hassle, trouble, fear-mongering media, and assorted other aggravations.
...and Stories are truly best when shared.
