Employees Comment On Company Updates
While it's not the most exciting thing to follow, here are two examples of company insiders commenting on the latest developments. Here we have the Louisiana Community Engagement Representative stating that O1 "is getting so close!"

True, the plant will be online soon. I would argue that the start-up of the Origin 1 facility in Sarnia, Ontario is the single biggest event for the company since completing the reverse merger with Artius Acquisition back in 2021. As far as "de-risking" going forward, the successful scale-up of the technology is what many are waiting to see. Confirming that the technology will indeed be viable at industrial scale will put a lot of worries to rest and answer the nagging question that many investors and watchers have been wondering the past two years: "will it work?"

The second most nagging question -- "when?" -- is sometime in Q2, between April 1st and June 30th. "So close" could mean as long as three more months.
If you're hungry like the Wolff, then you probably want to know more about Hyosung, the latest announced partner.

Hyosung Advanced Materials is a South Korean materials company, providing industrial yarn, tire reinforcements, carpets, airbags, and other advanced materials. They boast over $4 billion in annual revenue and are the world's top producer of polyester tire reinforcements. As part of the partnership with Origin Materials, Hyosung "signed a multi-year capacity reservation agreement to purchase sustainable carbon-negative materials from Origin Materials, including PET and a hybrid polymer PET/F (a blend of PET and FDCA) for use in tire cord applications, HTC for use in battery materials, as well as furanic derivatives for use in spandex applications in the apparel industry."
Hiring Has Slowed, But Continues
Over the past two years, the company has grown its headcount at a feverish pitch. As of March 31, 2021, the company had 38 employees located in the United States and three employees in Canada, all of whom were full-time employees. Now, as of December 31, 2022, the company has over 200 full-time employees.
One of the most recent hires appears to have been brought out of retirement, from an extensive and lengthy career with BP:

The company currently has six active job postings on LinkedIn:
- Analytical Intern - Routine Analysis
- Product Stewardship Specialist
- Logistics Manager
- Research Chemist - Fundamental
- Research Scientist - Natural Product/Organic Chemistry Focus
- Analytical Scientist - Powders & Nanomaterials Focus
ABLC 2023 Presentation Video Available
Fast forward to the 3:40:00 mark and behold, as co-CEO and co-founder John Bissell is introduced as a "carbon warrior" at the annual ABLC in Washington, DC.
Lobbying Continues for 2023
As expected, the company continues to use lobbyists to influence legislation and regulations in their favor. Origin Materials actually lists two firms as their representatives in California, Corbin & Kaiser and Samson Advisors. Among Samson Advisors' other clients are Procter & Gamble, Vulcan Materials, and Alaska Airlines.
Lobbying spend will likely increase for 2023, as the company vies for funding from the Inflation Reduction Act and other federal/state programs.
