Hawk Tuah! Why Would Anyone Buy That Thang?

I've recently been discussing Shiba Inu (SHIB) with a friend of mine. He's really been wanting me to add more because he says it will pump more than Bitcoin. He may be right; altcoins aka shitcoins can generate a greater return. However, they are a bit riskier and more unpredictable. I explained that I'm fine with allocating mostly to Bitcoin when it comes to crypto, as I don't really plan on cashing out for decades. He's set with his 100 million SHIB, and that's fine.

I wouldn't ever advocate directly for anyone to buy or sell any particular cryptocurrency. I think it pretty much goes without saying that I'm not a financial advisor. When I write about Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, it's just my thoughts and perhaps my reasons for hodling. But a shitcoin came onto my radar this weekend that I just had to post about.

Hawk Tuah (HAWKTUAH)

Yes, it's been trending this weekend. Perhaps because there was a bit of a pump this weekend that sent it into "double zero" territory briefly.

It's an interesting chart setup, but if you zoom out further you can see that this pump and dump shitcoin has already had its major dump.

For the degenerate shitcoin trader, perhaps this could be an interesting play as it has gotten some volume this weekend. But, for me personally, I wouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole. However, if you are curious to know more about the token, the meme and its origin, start with the original viral video:

The HAWKTUAH token is billed as "tax free, burned, and renounced." It is on the Solana network and is available on the Raydium and Jupiter exchanges. It currently has a market capitalization of $830k and its X page is still fairly active posting memes:

If you're going to trade this thang, that's probably all the due diligence you need. I see these meme shitcoins as just trading vehicles; most of them always seem to gravitate toward zero eventually. I suppose if you get in early enough, they could make you some money. But, like I said, I steer clear of these. Perhaps one day I'll drop $100 on one and take a spin. In the end, I see these types of tokens as a pure gamble -- "lotto plays" as they say.
