A while back I had mentioned a faucet that was going to give you dogecoin. It is called Cool Doge and the first 30-40 claims were promising. What it started to do then, was slow down. Instead of getting claims like 1.2 doge, it would start awarding me 0.00000126 doge. I kept at it, to see if I could out-stubborn it, and pry out the 20 doge that I needed to withdraw. I was worried if it would ever happen. In my experience, most faucets like this, will just happen to stop working either by DNS failure, safety certificate expiring or an algorithm on their end which would start paying 1 sat per claim. This one did worse.
This faucet, reset my balance, by 1,000 sats, so it could add more. What I mean by this, is that last night, my balance was 19.99999863. This meant that to a normal person, the next claim or two, should result in all of those '9''s turning into zeroes and it would go up to the next whole number. What it did instead, is when I received my claim of 0.00000123, it reset the last '9' and turned it into a zero. So now my balance is 19.99990473. By resetting that last 9, they robbed me of a payout.
Now, I can be at least thankful that the ONLY thing that I am out on this site, was time. The 30 seconds or so that it took to do the captcha and hit the claim button was it. Brave didn't detect anything behind the scenes and the memory usage was a bit high in the 344 range, but nothing internet-breaking.
But it does further make me think that the age of crypto could be dead. Albeit, Bitcoin has had a resurgence in the past year from being around $30k when I first got into crypto about 4-5 years ago, to now being in the high $60's, but still the concept of a parallel economy running on cryptocurrency, still isn't that feasible. (Don't get me started on that...!)
So, final thoughts?
