Splinterlands BattleMage Secrets: Armoured Up!

By RealSociology | Retire by 50 | 7 Jan 2024

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was one of my favourites: Armoured up in which every monster gains plus two to their armour.

Armoured Up general strategy....

My golden rule here is to play Void Armour, to negate the obvious magic counter, and then at least one repair.

The armour breaking buff, shatter should also be considered, along with piercing!

The battle below shows a battle featuring Rathe, my go to summoner for this rule set.

Mana and rulesets:

  • 26 Mana
  • Armoured Up only.

Summoner - Rathe - For Void and plus one armour mainly.

  • Zenith Month - an excellent, low mana tank with heal.
  • Torrent Fiend - low mana tank 2.
  • Scavo Hireling - for repair.
  • Venari CrystalSmith - tank heal.
  • Adelaide BrightWing - my main damage card and more repair.
  • Halving Alchemist - for the halving and a sneak soak.

The battle...

  • round 1 - We trade blows for no losses
  • round 2 - I take out the Pelacor
  • round 3 - - We trade blows for no losses
  • round 4 - I take out Djin Renova
  • round 5 - We trade blows for no losses
  • round 6 - take out the Gladiator
  • round 7 - it's all over, I take out the Time Mage.

Final battle analysis

This was a classic 'win by repair' victory. My opponent made the mistake of splitting his attacks so that snipe and tank attacks were neutralized at the end of every round by my double repair. They simply didn't get through my shields!

I was particularly pleased to win against a line up featuring a Gladiator card!

And of course bloodlust doesn't trigger with no deaths, and I ended up 6 for 6!

Armoured up...

Love the rule set, don't love the perpetual misspelling of it!

In the summer of 2014, when I turned 41, I set myself the goal of retiring from paid-work by the age of 52. This blog charts my own strategy and progress, and explores different theories of financial independence and 'extreme early retirement'. It also provides the odd tip on how you might also retire early!
