By space6irl | raw-vegan | 22 Jan 2022

Can you believe there could be such a thing as a Healthy and Raw Vegan Cinnamon Rolls recipe? Could these cinnamon rolls  actually taste great and be better for us than the ones we’re used to?

Well, I’m here to assure you that these rolls do exist, and they are easy to make! I like to call them CinnamonRaws! You don’t even have to mix anything for the dough because it is simply made of banana or plantain slices.

Cinnamon Raws

Learn how to make some raw vegan cinnamon rolls with these simple step-by-step instructions and be rewarded with a tasty treat in the end! Prep Time:10 mins Cook Time: 6 hrs Servings: 4

  • dehydrator or oven
  • food processor or high speed blender

  • 4 Bananas (or Plantains...use plantains if the bananas are too sweet for your taste)
  • 15 dates
  • cinnamon
  • splash vanilla

  • Slice each banana vertically (long-ways) into 3 strips
  • Sprinkle slices with cinnamon and place in dehydrator (or oven) at 115°F for 6-8 hours (or until you can bend them without them breaking, but before they are completely dry)
  • Add dates into your processor (make sure there are no pits!), vanilla, and about 1 tbsp of cinnamon and blend (add a little water if needed) into a nice paste consistency
  • When the bananas are ready to be handled, spread the paste upon each slice and roll them into cinnamon rolls (optional: sprinkle with more cinnamon)
  • Stick back into dehydrator and dehydrate for around 6 more hours
  • Enjoy! 🙂
  • Bonus: These are great topped with raw vegan icing! (If interested, refer to my icing recipe) raw vegan cinnamon rolls with icing

  • For bigger rolls, you may roll multiple strips together (around each other).
  • Freshly grated cinnamon tastes way better than the powdered one from the grocery store, and it has more nutritional benefits too!

cinnamon rolls - healthy

plz excuse the messy tray under the delicious rolls...

I’ll admit I was skeptical of how these would taste, but I gotta say, they are sweet, flavorful, and I feel good after eating them (unlike with the traditional cinnamon rolls that left me with a “bogged down” feeling after).

Do not fear the sugar in fruits!

Bananas and dates are full of natural sugars which are actually healthy! Unlike refined sugars (which gave sugar a bad reputation in general), these sugars are actually the fuel that our cells need to function properly in our bodies. Humans are a carbon-based species. Our cells get nutrition and energy from fruit’s carbohydrates.

Processed (refined) sugar is the sugar that makes the body acidic, opposed to fructose sugar from alkalizing fruits. An acidic environment in the body is what causes inflammation and promotes disease.

“The idea that sugar could directly fuel the growth of cancer cells can lead some people to avoid all carbohydrate-containing foods. This is counter-productive for anyone struggling to maintain their weight while dealing with side effects of cancer and treatments…Much research shows that it is sugar’s relationship to higher insulin levels and related growth factors that may influence cancer cell growth the most, and increase risk of other chronic diseases. Many types of cancer cells have plenty of insulin receptors, making them respond more than normal cells to insulin’s ability to promote growth.”

Fruits are higher in antioxidants and astringents and will move your lymphatic system far better than vegetables. Fruits, also being a simple sugar, are superior for diabetics, pancreatitis, hepatitis, and all other gastric and intestinal conditions. Fructose does not require insulin or extensive digestive enzymes. Fruits’ magnetic (electrical) energy is the highest of all foods, making them superior brain and nerve foods. They will bring energy to the body where most other foods take it away. NEVER FEAR THE USE OF FRUITS!
