This is something I have done for a while but never shared it with anyone else and I figured it was past time to correct that mistake.
Like a lot of writers on here I started to write to get more free crypto ;) No shame, it's the truth. Obviously my ambitions shifted the longer I was on this platform but I write that to state purely that I am not a distinguished author. I never wrote online articles before coming to Publish0x. The most I ever wrote on Reddit was 1 sentence responses. Sure I like to write and tell stories but putting my thoughts "down to paper" was new to me. But I digress.
I was a new author when coming to Publish0x. I started back in January of 2020. At the time of writing I have 1,554 followers. I am sure a lot, if not most, of those are now abandoned profiles. So it will be interesting to see how many followers I lost when Publish0x clears out those abandoned profiles.

I have written some crappy articles. I even wrote click-bait articles when I first started, just trying to grab followers because I thought followers = free crypto tips. Which isn't necessarily wrong but it was a terrible way to go about it. What I should have done from the start was just try to write the most in depth, honest, detailed articles I could have. I am at that place now in my Publish0x writing career but this is my attempt to help anyone else semi new to writing here.
The 1 tip I would give to any new writer is to find other good authors and read their articles. The easiest way to do this is when Writing competitions happen. I still do this to this day and which is why I recommend it. I recently posted an article for the TallyHoWallet competition. I thought it was a pretty well written article and was in-depth enough. After 2 days it has gotten 1068 views and $0.75 in tips. And for me that is pretty good. Sure I have had better but I definitely had worse lol.

So because it's a writing competition everyone who is entering has to use the tag #TallyHoWallet in their article. This is key. Because you can gauge your writing ability against some of the big league players here on Publish0x (you know who you are) 😉. Since we all have to write about the same thing but are given some freedom as to which path to take its an interesting way to stack yourself up against other people. I am not trying to say if you post a article for the writing competition and you get $0.01 in tips and 4 views, your article is trash. But I do believe we ALL can always get better at writing.Â
This is what you need to do. In the search bar in the top of the website type in the tag for the competition. In this case it is "TallyHoWallet". Hit enter once typed in.

After the search results come up click on the 'tags' header.

That will give you any used tags that include that search result. For us this is easy and all you have to do is click on the "TallyHoWallet" tag underneath.

Then you will see all the articles that have been submitted for the competition.

What I personally do is comb through the list and any article that has more tips then my article I will read thoroughly. I wish you could see # of views but you can't so I base it off of tips. What I am looking for is not anything to pick apart the articles and be butt hurt they got more tips then me. What I am doing is assuming that a article with a lot of tips should mean it got a lot of views. That to me means it most likely has really good content.
And since all articles in a writing competition are about the same thing what I assume is that those articles are better written. They could have better screenshots. They could have better history on the project or more thorough explanation of the project. They also could have a better Thumbnail (which is super important). All I am looking for is ways to improve my writing. It's not a sure fire way to get more views or tips on your next article. However it is a way to better at writing articles. Nobody here has perfect grammar, or "perfect articles". But it's all about just getting better and better.
The other point I wanted to make out is that it is key you get articles written around the same time. Because if you just search for "Brave Browser" you could get an article from 2 years ago that wasn't that good but since it's been around a while could have slowly amassed more tips/views then a article published last week that was better written. So again using the writing competition is a perfect way to try to level set the articles you are judging against.
I also know some people may use this tactic and wait until the end of a writing competition as a way to size up the competition before they post their articles to "make sure" there's is better. This is just...not what I would do but to each their own.

TL;DR - Read other people's articles for the writing competition and see what works and what doesn't work. And then do what works.
