TQ Tezos and Coinlist just announced a Tezos hackathon that will start on the 25th of May and end at the 25th of June. Coinlist organizes hackathons frequently on "Coinlist Build" where it brings together developers in a competitive environment.

"Tezos application ecosystem, including decentralized finance, games and collectibles, and oracles and bridging real world data to Tezos. Teams from Baking Bad, Cryptonomic, LIGO, SmartPy, Stove Labs, Taquito, Tezos Commons Foundation, and Truffle are partnering on the event by providing ongoing developer support throughout the hackathon and hosting workshops to teach community members how best to use their tools."

So far the main focus in the Tezos ecosystem has been in developing the infrastructure layer and development tooling. We now start to see more application focused movements in the Tezos ecosystem. There have been some competitions:

The "Future of Blockchain 2"
- Q-Vote: A quadratic voting platform from a team of KCL students, built on Tezos and also representing SAP.
- Chain of Insight: A zero-knowledge encryption oracle and dApp, built on Tezos.
- dAirbnb: A Professor from Stirling University, a Senior Lecturer at University of Strathclyde and PhD who has built a decentralised property marketplace on Tezos.
- DeepVerse: A team of 3 Cambridge PhDs who have built a platform to train AI models collaboratively, using Tezos and Arweave.

The Tezos Boston Pitch Competition:
- 1st - Bank Nova: Credit in the distance of a message.
- 2nd - UniCoin: better manage on-campus financial transactions.
- 3rd - WeTruth is fighting misinformation, bias, fake and news via Tezos-based oracles to uphold the verifiable truth.

IDEO + CoinList Hackathon
-Winner in the category Tezos projects: Ejara, a mobile platform for saving and investing, that offers cryptocurrencies and eventually tokenized assets uniquely tailored for the African market.

The Tezos hackathon that has been announced last week, is the biggest so far and we hope to see some great results. The partners in this event are all core infrastructure and tooling developers. It will be very valuable for them to see how developers of applications get to work. This event will not just be a month long of focused application development, it will also be a great source of feedback for the core infrastructure builders.
