I got this question about 2 weeks back under one of my posts. The reader was asking what would happen to BAT after the halving, because he had a truckload of BAT and wanted to know if to sell.
While I can't say for sure what would happen post halving to an asset that isn't directly correlated with Bitcoin, I can give an explanation to back up what I feel would happen.
First off, my bias: I feel that BAT would make ATH prices post halving. Almost every alt worth your time would.
Now let me explain this bias.
Knowing fully well that the price of ERC-20 tokens is directly correlated with the price of ETH, and ETH is correlated with the price of Bitcoin, it is safe to say that the price of ERC-20 tokens is correlated with that of Bitcoin.
While this is, the correlation isn't direct. So if after the halving, Bitcoin takes a gradual dip downward, ETH would also take a gradual dip downward, which would give alts massive headroom to run up and stay up for a while in the least.
However, if post halving, BTC runs down in one or two candles, ETH would do the same, and so would alts. Including BAT.
The last possible situation would be if BTC runs up gradually or if it runs up in just a few candles. If the latter is the case, well ETH would run up as well, and alts would suffer. But if the former is the case, ETH would equally slowly go up, giving head room for alts to not fall to ATL.
I feel however that this explanation is incomplete without stating this: BAT is a super cryptocurrency.
It was one of the first to recover nearly all of its March 18th losses in less than a month. Even Bitcoin hasn't recovered all yet.
As if that wasn't enough, it has been showing signs of a bullrun pretty soon. I've been calling this out since I created my blog here, and it's great to be right once in a while.
Anyway, let's see what happens, as the halving is in less than a week.(1000 blocks away baby!)
Thanks for reading.
