I like to imagine a world where cryptocurrencies are the only means of exchange.
We would use them at our local stores, and there would no longer be need of a bank to store them for us.
However, while I have kept this in memory, I have also realised that Bitcoin alone won't be able to suffice for this cause.
So I thought of a way out.
And I found one.
While Bitcoin can handle everyday tasks efficiently, like buying groceries or gassing up your car, BAT would be used for online payments.
Any payment that would be made online, like payment for clothes ordered, or payment for your new iPhone would be made with BAT.
Why? And what does it have over Bitcoin?
Well, first, it is unlimited in number. There's no certain number of BAT tokens that would ever be created, thus it's easy to make large payments without worrying about the supply drying up.
Second, even with this unlimited amount of tokens, the price has stayed significantly high for a long time. Even higher than Ripple, although no one is counting.🙃
Lastly, Brave might buy back tokens from time to time. This would not only create artificial scarcity in the market, thereby raising prices, but would also allow more attention to be brought to BAT.
This is why I believe that it would be used for online payments.
And the infrastructure is already in place. Literally.
You simply need to send your BAT tokens to the wallet address of the service you wish to use. An operator(or a special code) would verify the payment coming from your address, and your goods would be delivered to you. Easy peasy!
Don't you wish for this kind of future too?
