BAT as the king of online crypto.

BAT as the king of online crypto.

By MadMaxx | Psycho Crypto | 13 May 2020

Yesterday night, over a late dinner of store bought frozen pizza and a can of coke, i had an idea.

How about using BAT for all online payments?

Not just like paying for setting up ads or paying for a subscription or something like that.

I mean paying for EVERYTHING you buy on the internet. A new phone. A new TV. A new HOUSE. You get me?

So in this post, I want to project my mind outwards and see if this is possible, listing the pros and cons along the way. I'll also list the infrastructure that would be necessary, and all this while trying my able best not to bore you to death.

Sound good? Let's get started!

Ok. Let's talk about the infrastructure first. You can't do any of these things without infrastructure.

First you'll need a wallet. Not just any wallet. A vault that can't be hacked unless you let them. Project Hydro(their souls rest in peace) were building something very similar to this, aptly named....the vault.(please don't sue me Hydro)

This wallet would be offline all the time, regardless of whether you're online or not. And since it doesn't have any servers, it can't be hacked from anywhere but your computer.

But what if this hacker is desperate for your tokens? What if he takes years to befriend you just to get access to your PC to "help you with that OS update?"

Well, even if he has your password, he won't be able to send any cryptocurrencies out of the vault. This is because there would not only be a 2FA code screen on "checkout", but equally a password different from your regular password that you need to initiate the send. Oh, and this password is generated and sent to your phone. Ouchie for our hacker.

Next up, we'll need a BAT to fiat gateway for those merchants that don't like cryptocurrencies. They might be few by the time this is a reality, but they would still be around. Gateways are really easy to make, and we have a bunch of them around nowadays.

That's all we'll need really. Websites would adapt to show you the BAT cost of products when you use the Brave browser to look at their catalogue, regardless of whether the prices are stated in fiat or not. Then a gateway would actually be layered into the brave browser to help convert the BAT tokens to fiat, so it looks like you bought something with fiat, but you actually used BAT.

There are many advantages to this, but there are equally a ton of disadvantages.

First, the fluctuations of market value. BAT could be worth $0.25 when you send the payment, and when the gateway is done with it, it could be worth $0.23. So the website may reject the payment, although it was correct.

Equally, you won't be able to use BAT to buy really expensive stuff like houses or cars, simply because of how much BAT they'll cost. Not that you don't have that amount, but if everyone wants to buy a house at the same time, it might lead to some problems.

Those are just my thoughts guys. What do you think? Should this be a reality? Tell me down below.

And get some BAT tokens for free here!
