Sometimes we look at crypto charts and assume everything moves because of news, announcements, or some tweet that shakes the market. But when we start paying closer attention, we realize there’s a hidden layer that most people never notice. The article I read today made me think about this in a different way. It talks about “market makers,” who are basically the ones responsible for making sure there’s always someone on the other side when we want to buy or sell. And honestly, without them, the market would be far more chaotic than it looks.

What struck me the most is how, for the average person, the market seems alive on its own: orders coming in, volume rising, prices moving fast… but a lot of that “life” is created by these invisible participants. They’re not there to gamble on whether the price will go up or down. They’re there to keep the market functional, to make sure orders don’t get stuck, and to prevent huge gaps between one price and the next. In a way, they create the feeling of stability that makes everything look natural.

Another interesting point is the idea that a “pump” — those sudden upward moves — doesn’t start with hype. It starts with structure. Before the price can move, there needs to be enough liquidity so the market doesn’t break in half. And the ones who prepare that liquidity are the market makers. They adjust spreads, balance inventory, move orders around… all so the price can move smoothly when buying pressure appears.

It also made me think about how these participants have access to information that regular traders never see: order flow, imbalances, moments when the market is fragile or strong. It’s not that they can predict the future — they just understand the structure of the market much better than someone who only looks at the chart.

There’s another point the article touches on that feels important: many projects work directly with market makers to create the impression that their token is healthy. Tight spreads, steady volume, smooth movements… all of that can be manufactured, even when nothing has changed in the fundamentals. It’s not necessarily illegal, but it’s also not completely transparent. It’s one of those grey areas that exist in almost every financial market.

In the end, the idea that stays with me is that markets aren’t as “natural” as they look. Stability is built. Liquidity is built. And a big part of what we see on the chart is the result of interventions that never appear on the surface. We only notice them when they disappear — when spreads widen, when prices jump uncontrollably, when everything feels broken.

It’s strange to think that the movements we watch every day depend so much on actors that almost nobody talks about. But it makes sense: without them, the market would be a desert, and any slightly larger order would make the price explode or collapse. In the end, they’re the ones who make it possible for the market to function the way it does, even if they stay in the shadows.
