In the previous post I explained very quickly why poker is a game of skill and not a game of chance as unfortunately most people think and as it is usually shown on television. If you want to know more in detail because I consider that poker is a game of skill and not of chance or if you have not read my previous post and you want to know my point of view about it, I recommend you spend a while for my post Poker - Gambling or Skill game?
Now if we get to the point, maybe you already know that there are many different variants and modalities of playing poker. Today we will focus on the most popular variant, Texas Hold'em and specifically on a modality that is relatively new in the world of poker, Sit and Go or also called Expressos or Nitros, depending on the poker room where it is played. , I will call them Spin and Go because it is the best known name, since they are the name given by PokerStars, the largest, most reliable and well-known online poker room in the ecosystem.
How do Spin and Go tournaments work?
The Spin and Go are a variant of the traditional sit and go, but super fast and that also added a bit of that image of roulette of fortune.
To start each Spin and Go, 3 players are necessary to whom a total of 500 starting chips are given to play. Once the 3 players are registered in the Spin (for the example let's say that the entry is USD 1), before starting the game the software randomly selects a multiplier for the tournament which can go from 2x to a 12,000x, this means that the prize for which it will be competed in the case of falling 2x and if the Buy in is $ 1, then the prize would be $ 2. In this type of poker, only the 1st place wins the total prize pool, the other players, by not taking anything, lose the amount of the entry, except in the highest multipliers. Below you will see the table of multipliers, prizes, frequency and their respective odds (based on a $ 1 Buy-in in the PokerStars room):

Once the multiplier of the game has been randomly decided, the game starts. As the Spin and Go is a Hyperturbo tournament variant, the blind levels last very little, from as little as 2 minutes to 5 minutes per level for the highest multipliers. This makes the game very fast and that on average each Spin and Go lasts approximately 4 minutes, this being ideal for occasional players who are in search of strong emotions charged with adrenaline, since you have the possibility of multiplying your initial entry 10,000 times in just 4 minutes, an opportunity that you cannot find in many places.
So far I leave the explanation of the Spin and Go, I am thinking if in a next blog entry I can explain a super basic strategy that will allow you to be consistent winners at the lowest level of the Spin and Go, being able to achieve an ROI of between 8 and 10%. Let me know in the comments if you would be interested in knowing a little more about Spin and Go and if you want me to give you my strategies that have helped me to beat the first levels of Spin and Go or any other comment or suggestion, everything is welcome and If any concept seems unfamiliar to you, feel free to also say so in the comments and I will be happy to explain it to you.
