There is no doubt that Lionel Messi is arguably one of the best football out there. A lot of people can pick sides and tell you by comparison that Ronaldo is better or even Maradona due to his World Cup exploits. Whatever table you are tilting towards, you can't mention any of the greatest players to ever grace this footballing world without mentioning the phenomenal Lionel Messi.
His dazzling feet, his resilience, his energy, his expertise on the ball, his vision - his wonderful eyes for goal, his delivery, beautiful assists, crazy dribbles and so many embarrassments he has dished out in Barcelona colours. What a player he is. You can have a favourite but you can't rule out the amazing things he has done, the amazing trophies he has won and despite being 34, he doesn't look like slowing down.
The event of the past few hours left so many Barcelona fans bittered and angered, rightly so. The club releasing a statement despite Lionel Messi taking a significant pay cut, his salary cap won't make him get registered and now, he is officially a free agent. Both parties are at a loss because Lionel Messi wanted to stay and he hasn't planned to see his life go in another direction so quickly. There is this aspect of mental torture it would give you and I can imagine how painful it must be for the club also as they have lost one of their greatest players of all time.
It's a massive loss to the league as we also found out about the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo when he left Real Madrid. Now, the league would find another loss hard to cope with if Lionel Messi decides to ply his trade in another league and that looks like the obvious solution if Barcelona won't work. Aguero's dream of playing with his compatriot even with Memphis Depay's dream of playing with Lionel Messi won't be happening anytime soon.
What next for Leo? I know he can't be short of suitors and Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain are the favourite to get his signature on their books but the last two seem like a probable destination as United has never been linked in any way to the talented Messi. It remains to be seen where he would end up and the footballing world is eager to see where Messi would choose as his next destination.
Now, so many fans got their wish even though it wasn't a deliberate act, Lionel Messi would be testing himself in another league and all eyes would be on him to see what he can do and how well he adapts away from the club he has been with for over 20 years.
Where do you think Lionel Messi would be going next? Back to Argentina? PSG? Manchester City? The earlier mentioned trio are the teams that can afford him as we speak and what a signing Messi would be for any team.
Only Leo knows what's next and until he reveals, we can all speculate but we will wait...
Thank you for your time.
