3. Troubleshooting.
If the above two things are good, here are some troubleshooting tips to get ads working on your computer.
A. First, check your notification settings.
- For Windows 10 - follow these steps.
-
Navigate to Settings -> system -> notifications and actions.
-
Look for brave browser. If you see the browser, make sure that notifications are turned on.
-
If not, then go to https://www.bennish.net/web-notifications.html.
- On the site, select authorize
- allow notifications
- if it does not pop with "allow notifications", you need to give it those permissions again.
- Click the little lock icon next to the address bar, and select notifications. either tell it to allow or ask, and then restart these steps.
- Then click Show or Show in 5 seconds.
- You should see a notification pop up in the bottom left of your window.
-
You should now see it in your notifications and you can move onto B.
-
-
- Make sure focus assist is turned OFF
- FOR MacOS
- Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned OFF
- then go to https://www.bennish.net/web-notifications.html.
- go through the above steps and make sure you get a notification. If you do, then move on to Part B
B. Restart Brave Rewards.
Only do this section if you are seeing notifications.
- Go to Brave Rewards settings and turn on and off the brave rewards button.
- Wait 30 seconds, do not move your mouse or hit keys. just do nothing, but make sure the browser is running in the foreground.
- after 30 seconds has passed, move your mouse, and if there are available ads, you should receive one.
C. Check for VPN's, firewalls, other blockers that may be stopping Brave's notifications or ads.
- You may need to allow brave browser in the firewall or any blockers or virus protection software.
D. IF you are using a VPN - you may need to check the local settings on your mac or pc to make sure it matches the area you are in on your vpn. I will try and write up a separate post about this.
