Hi everyone and welcome back to my Splinterlands blog, as usual there is enough to talk about! This weeks Social Media Challenge, challenges us to write about the most remarkable Splinterlands moment, and there's certainly a lot going on, if you're a Splinterlands player yourself I'm sure you know all about it, but if not, you might heard a thing or two and while there's a lot of negativity out there, good things are happening to the game, and the reason of the recent sell-off is an effect from the changes, this will pass and we will be stronger when is has passed, it's something that had to be done but we all feel the pain. On the other hand, with the sell-off there are some really nice buying opportunities, so I guess every disadvantage has it's advantages! 😉
To find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself and start earning with your blogs like me, check out the Splinterlands post here.
With so many bargains everywhere, it's hard to choose what to go for, so last weekend I took my monthly playing money and bought SPS for it, now it's below 1 cents it's a good buy in my opinion!
This brings my staked SPS to 48K and my total across two accounts well over 50K, I'll keep accumulating while it's below 10 cents, it's just hard to choose between cheap SPS or cheap cards!
So... what's wrong?
Well, to be fair, the team still has a lot of work to do but I think there is nothing wrong anymore, the real problems are dealt with now, primarily bot farms slowly leeching our economy to death, and because of the recent changes which got implemented to fight the thousands of low level accounts playing in Wild League without ever investing anything in to the game again, but only extracted - the owners of these account are dumping their assets on to the market, this goes for cards as well as SPS, there is simply not enough demand for the assets on the market now.
Because of the changes, I stopped botting my alt account and upgraded it a bit to be more competitive in low Silver Modern League, and it's actually quite fun!
When my blogging earnings pay out, I buy some cards and I'll probably keep doing this for a while too, cards are still being added to my wish list every week!
As you can see I upgraded my water deck and I'm now scooping up General Sloan's below 10 cents to get her up to level 4.
The earnings for my alt are pretty nice too, now the season end is close I'm able to climb up in rating.
The current deck value for my alt is $120 with 2.5k staked SPS to it so this is by no means a whale account and comparable for what starting players could reach after a bit of learning how the game is played.
What did the changes to do the earning part in higher leagues?
Well, to test things out I bought a Wild permit pass for this season for about 89 cents worth of vouchers which I got for free with my SPS stake but I could have sold them too, so it still cost me 89 cents I guess, at current price that's about 100 SPS I first need to earn back in battles.
With the season ending I clawed my way up to Modern Gold 3 and I'm earning around 2.5 - 3 SPS per win and 170 - 200 glint
Modern has definitely improved, even for lower level accounts but from 1800 rating and up I still see a lot of max level accounts which should be a lot higher in rating so it's not totally fixed. At this stage in the end of the season I should be able to hit Gold 1 at minimum and maybe push to Diamond 3.
On the other hand, Wild still has the rating inflation problem even now the bot farms have mostly been chased away.
I was still able to reach Champion 3, which I shouldn't be able to. My earnings for a win are 1.5 - 1.8 SPS and 240 - 280 glint.
The total glint earned for this season isn't much, although I've been active almost every day except for the maintenance day on Tuesday, the game was still offline when I had time to play. ☹️
I'm saving glint for the guaranteed legendary draws, at current glint earnings this means I can get 2 legendary cards each season, playing almost every day.
In my opinion the glint earnings for now max level accounts needs to be higher - of course when I'm able to reach Gold 1 like I should be, this will be better.
The end, or opportunity?
'This game is dead'... I see this comment regularly in Splinterlands content on YouTube, and for outsiders this may seem true but then again, do you know how many times people say crypto is dead? or bitcoin is dead?
In my opinion this game has something most other play2earn games I tried don't have... It's actually fun! After almost three years I'm still having fun every day and the depth in strategy only gets deeper, which is a good thing when you're in to strategy, #braintraining!
So, the way I see it this isn't the end but a nice time to buy assets that were way too expensive for me two years ago, I now own a Phantom of the Abyss! 🙂
Of course, no guarantee and definitely no financial advice but when you have fun, you can outlast the FUD for a while... 😅
Battle time!
So, enough about the problems, possibilities and earnings, what's a Splinterlands post without a battle!?
Today, I want to talk (again) about a mostly under valued ruleset which I see mostly ignored, in lower level play we don't have a lot of stun monsters but the higher we go, the more we see, and when you use the stun in a heavy hitters ruleset, it can be quite devastating!
I'll show you in the battle I saved to share.
The Battle I saved for this post is a 41 mana Modern League 'Heavy Hitters' battle with the Fire, Water and Life splinters available to be chosen, all three splinters have stun monsters at my league but I like the water splinter the most for this task as the Sultry Barmaid also has the Ambush ability, giving it an extra chance for the stun to drop, that together with the fast team members this cab be very destructive, let's watch!
First look at the battlefield:
Oh nice, a max Scargore isn't something I see every day, I made the right choice bringing my Water deck since it is my only (close to) max deck, so it's a least an even playing field. Arkemis has Forcefield but almost every of my monsters is below the 5 damage threshold, and the knock-out damage bypasses the forcefield, hopefully the Barmaid is able to drop the stun in the first round!
My opponent brought stun too, hopefully I'm faster 😁
My Line-Up:
- Summoner: Kelya Frendul - reason: Water, my favorite!
- First position: Diemon Shark - reason: Heavy damage, fast, retaliate, enrage.
- Second position: Flying Squid - reason: Good damage, fast, blind, backfire.
- Third position: Djinn Oshannus - reason: Good damage, fast, void, forcefield, a fail safe against magic teams.
- Fourth position: Deep Lurker - reason: Heavy damage opportunity monster with poison, it's just awesome.
- Fifth position: Sultry Barmaid - reason: Stun delivery, nothing more.
- Sixth position: Angelic Mandarin - reason: Magic and Sneak team protection with the triage and silence.
The Battle:
Round 1: Arkemis didn't even got the chance to attack, the 12 HP didn't save him from dying fast, the enemy stun monster Lava Launcher got stunned itself, karma 😂
Round 2: A one-hit-kill from Oshannus on the Lava Launcher! The Tenyii Striker didn't go down without a fight though, very fast because of the enrage so it's backfire is quite nasty, it wasn't enough though, and now there's only 1 monster left, it's fast but unable to fire... and Oshannus is first to fire, he can't miss so this is it, a win for me!
Nice earnings! with 3.4 SPS it's a lot more than my average because of my win streak, giving a 40% bonus.
You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.
Yep, that's it for this post, I still need to grind some ranked battles on both my accounts, tomorrow is another workday for me so I need to deplete enough of my energy so I won't reach 50 until I'm able to play on Saturday morning.
I hope to see you on my next post, or maybe we meet on the battlefield!
